WHAT IF..........

What if you made different choices?

You said YES instead of NO?

You got a second chance?

Jack Campbell made a choice. To leave the love of his life after college for a financial banking  internship in London. After meeting an angel on Christmas Eve, he is gifted the opportunity to go back and visit his alternate life in which he decided to forgo the internship and build a life with his then girlfriend!

Jack is sitting in a chair of the humble house he shares with his wife and two small children.

JACK: (Opening up an old envelope with torn, one way return airline tickets from London to New York) From London to New York.  I came back.

KATE: (entering the room with Jack) When you got on that plane, I was sure it was over. I left the airport afraid I would never see you again. And then you showed up the very next day. (softly) That was a good surprise. Ya know, I think about the decision you made. Maybe I was being naive, but I thought we would grow old together in this house. That we would spend holidays here and have our grandchildren come visit us here. I have this image of us all grey and wrinkly. And me working in the garden and you repainting the deck. (brushing away tears) But things change. 

If you need this Jack.  If you really need this. I will take these kids from a life they love, and I will take myself from the only home we've ever shared together, and I'll move wherever you need to go. I'll do that because I love you. I love you and that's more important to me than our address. I choose US!

Choices! We all truly get to create our own reality in every moment of NOW. Through our thoughts, emotions, and actions; our choices. For they are a part of the very fabric that weaves, with utter energetic wonder, everything we will experience and grow to become as a byproduct.  Every choice you make creates a ripple effect throughout the Universe. Because you are the Universe! And so it is very crucial to live with purposeful intention! Behind every choice you make are the INTENTIONS of what and WHO you choose to BE! You can only have the life of your greatest desires if you first "intentionally organize it through the choices you make."  

As the late, great Wayne Dyer taught, "You create your thoughts. Your thoughts create your intentions. And your intentions create your reality." And So It Is Mr. Dyer! 

In the extraordinarily magical film The Family Man, Jack Campbell goes through a Hero's Journey of massive SELF discovery. He is given the penultimate gift of ‘seeing’ a glimpse of a life he could have created for himSELF. The one he realizes was completely aligned with his Super Heroic Higher Self. Through this vision of spiritual sliding doors, he is humbled and grows into the man who is able to receive the LOVE the life he now so longs for would have given to him.  

This gifted ‘vision’ forges a deep KNOWINGNESS within his personal paradigm. And like Jack, once we no longer believe, but actually KNOW who we are and what we truly desire, life becomes a thing of daily magic; and MIRACLES! And there is absolutely NO going back to the way things "used to BE."

Once this ‘quick glimpse’of a much more formative life ends, Jack has one last shot at creating the vision of his new INTENDED DREAMS! And so like all Super Heroes, he takes massive action! And rushes to the airport to speak from his heart to the love of his life, Kate. Who is about to leave for Paris, permanently!

JACK: (shouting to capture Kate's attention before boarding her plane for Paris) We have a house in Jersey! We have two kids. Annie and Josh! Annie's not much of a violin player, but she tries real hard. She's a little precocious, but that's only because she says what is on her mind. (tearing up) And when she smiles. (holding back more tears-beat) And Josh, he has your eyes. He doesn't say much. But we know he's smart. He's always got his eyes open. He's always watching us. Sometimes you can look at him and you just KNOW. He's learning something new. It's like witnessing a miracle. 

The house is a mess. But it's ours! After 122 more payments, it's gonna be ours! And you, you're a non-profit lawyer. That's right. You're completely non-profit. But that doesn't seem to bother you. And we're in love. After 13 years of marriage, we are still unbelievably in love. You won't even let me touch you until I've said it. I sing to you. Not all the time, but definitely on special occasions. And we've dealt with our share of surprises and made a lot of sacrifices but we've stayed together. 

You see, you're a better person than I am. And it made me a better person to be around you. I dunno! Maybe it was all just a dream. Maybe I went to bed one lonely night in December and I imagined it all. But, I swear, nothing has ever felt....so real.  And if you get on that plane right now, it will all disappear forever. I know we could both go on with our lives and we would both be fine. But I've seen what we can be like together. And I choose US!

Not all of us will be granted the Christmas Wish of a second chance to change things in our lives like Jack Campbell. (of course many of us will, so never stop knowing what you desire to BE and DO)  All by making different, more empowering choices. So I highly suggest you take heed of the script making magic from this illuminating film. And begin to put intentional energy behind everything you think, say and do! The very state of your life in all its abundant forms is depending on it!

TIPS Toward LIVING An UTTERLY SUPER HEROIC Life…!!

  

My childhood was fraught with feelings of utter disillusionment.  And pangs of painful events that imprinted on my spiritual psyche a blueprint filled with the deep held belief that LOVE had to be earned. And perhaps even worse, the idea that CARE and COMPASSION were available only through chaos and struggle. My birth father abandoned our family when I was a toddler and I always felt it was all my fault! Quite a load for such tiny shoulders to bare. It's no wonder that I developed a horrendous case of abandonment issues.  It got so bad, that as a first grader, I would take the bus to our elementary school about a mile from our home. While the other kids on the bus were keen on a full day of fun, first grade activities, I had a COMPLETELY different agenda! As the bus pulled up to the entrance to the 1st through 3rd grade wing of the school, I was in full spy mode. Surveying the area for any administrators in the vicinity who could possibly thwart my well devised plans!  

As the bus doors opened, we all got up, one row at a time, and exited the vehicle to make the preverbal 'straight line' that marks the tenets of first grade Superheroes in Training. As soon as the bus had emptied, our 'line leader' would start us walking toward the door adjacent to our classroom just inside the building. I made sure to keep a low profile, all the while still scouting the area for potential school personnel. There was a ginormous bush just to the left of the entrance of the building.  And just as I approached this leafy refuge, with a spry agility, I would jump right into the back of the bush with nothing less than a whisk of air left in my wake!  

I would watch all the other kids as they dutifully entered the school door for the day. My wrist watch was synchronized-mission impossible style-with the school bell that rang promptly at 8:15. Still in complete stealth mode, I peered through the small openings in between this oversized bushy plant until I saw the very last of the school's attendants leave their assigned posts to go back into the school to teach their students. For safe measures, I waited an extra two minutes and then walked out from behind my hidden haven as though it was my god given right and preceded to walk the mile back to my house!  Back pack in tow, my steps were filled with a steely sense of confidence that usurped any feelings of guilt or wrongdoing. Until I reached my final destination, in which I knew my tiny tush was in danger, in the form of my mother who stayed at home during the days!  To be fair, although she was obviously beyond frustrated with me, her care and deep concern far outweighed her wrath.  

She knew my real intention for this ritual (I did this on 27 different occasions) was rooted in a deep trauma filled fear of being abandoned; once again. I had been extremely close to my father as a toddler and his leaving the family had affected me on every level.  Mind, body, and spirit.  Not to mention the crippling guilt that I carried surrounding the 'Story' I had cemented into my mind-set. That being 'Not Good Enough', nor worthy of anyone's LOVE.  To compound things, we were actually living with my mom's sister and there were many Shakespearean worthy dynamics that were played out in sometimes horrific detail on a daily basis. Without going into great detail (that's for another time), the entirety of the situation made for a perfect storm of strife and struggle that left me deeply scarred with wounds of the wicked kind!  

Fortunately, together with the school's psychology expert, we were able to find a solution to my daily jaunts back to 'Home Base'. During the first half of each school day, I was actually put to work in the school's front office. Doing everything from mail sorting, to filing paper work. Yes, as a first grader, I was blessed with skill sets FAR beyond my biological age! This helped keep my mind off of any dysfunctional thoughts and onto the tasks at hand!  (looking back, I should have asked for a raise dang it!!)    

Unfortunately, the residual imprinting from my childhood experiences followed me like a thief for the next 25 years of my life. Robbing me of healthy relationships, and causing me to repeat past patterns that kept me taking two steps forward, one step back in most of my chosen endeavors. Deep in my SOUL, I know that while I don't feel responsible for any of the various physical manifestations or dis-eases I developed, (four in total)  I understand it didn't help my body to be out of spiritual alignment for so long. How could it?  

After having the horrific experience of having my colon removed, I felt a deep yearning to leave the Washington, D.C. area and head back to my birthplace of Los Angeles! And so that is exactly what I did. And looking back, what a magical blessing that decision turned out to be. For it was there I started on a spiritual path of healing my body, mind, and SPIRIT!  Back then, the West Coast was a much more open minded space of all things metaphysical.  And I basked in its energy!  I started devouring books that had anything to do with spiritual growth, personal mind-sets, and metaphysical laws of the Universe. I literally could not get enough. My treasured bevy of books grew to over 300!  Many I re-read several times over to gain as much knowledge and wisdom from the Spiritual Masters that had gone before me. I was mentored by many of the leading spiritual community’s luminaries! Got certified in many coaching/energy/healing modalities. I even enrolled in the Master's in Spiritual Psychology program at the University of Santa Monica.  

Slowly, I began to heal from my childhood traumas.  But holy moley, did it take a lot of commitment, dedication, and hard fought perseverance. Bottom line, IT WAS NOT EASY! There were some days in which I felt I had left my demons in the dust. Only to be triggered the next day and being flooded once again with feelings of 'Less Than' and 'Not Lovable'. I learned that like anything else worth doing in life, the healing process takes time. But it is OH SO WORTH IT!  If anyone requires a testimonial, give them my number. (Actually, email will do just fine!)  

After a decade on the Left Coast, I retuned to my childhood home of Washington, D.C.  I felt a disturbance in the Force. Like Luke Skywalker leaving his home planet of Tatooine, I felt like my time in LA had served its purpose and I was needed elsewhere.  And boy did Spirit send me in the right direction. For during the next five years, my sister's son was diagnosed with Autism, and my step father developed a deadly form of brain cancer. And my being back at home allowed me to Be of Loving Service for both of them!  Not to mention the rest of our family. What a blessing that was bestowed upon me and my family!  There was NO other place I would have chosen to be. I was able to assist in the development of my Godson who has since been able to overcome many  life challenges that come as a result of autism and is now a bright shining Super Hero of his 11th grade class!  And I was able to care for my father (step dad but he is just POP to me) as he fought his cancer valiantly for well over a year. 

I was able to hold his hand and look him square in his beautiful blue eyes as he took his very last breathe.  I even felt his soul entering back into the space of heavenly energy that  accompanies each of our eventual transition from our physical state.  

It was after his passing, that I committed myself to being a Spiritual Teacher and a Transcendental Self Empowerment Coach for the masses.  I had known for over 15 years that my true CALLING was to be of service by assisting others in awakening into their true POWER.  And the remembrance that they have a Super Heroic Higher Self that is nothing less than a 'Miracle Making Machine!'  Because if there is one thing this World needs right now, IT IS MORE SUPERHEROES! Wouldn't you agree with me? I had resisted the COSMIC CALL long enough. So this time, I picked up the soulful ringtone that I had put on hold time and time again!

But the Spiritual Secret Sauce to my own transformation toward awakening my Super Heroic Higher Self was in creating a NEW ORIGIN story. Through my dedication to self growth, I began to look at my entire life through a different filter. A brand new, more empowering perspective. Rather than feelings of abandonment, I shifted my mind-set toward one that allowed me to see my father's abandonment as a gift. Because I never would have met my new father had he stayed. And Roger Lee Poston was the closest thing to a Superhero that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! He taught me how to live life from the perspective of Love and Service. Always and in all ways!  He showered me with heavy helpings of true non-judgement and compassion. Not to mention introducing me to everything Nerd Culture (movies, comic books, videos games, pinball etc.) and sports! I miss you dearly POPS!

I have been able to transcend any limiting beliefs or feelings of ‘NOT ENOUGH’ into complete GRATITUDE for all my life's challenges. For each of them taught me how to be a Wounded Healer.  And a Spiritual Teacher and coach.  I have learned how to transform my pain and fears into my ultimate POWER.  For both myself and others!!  As Carl Jung said, "The doctor is effective only when he himself is affected. Only the wounded physician heals."   

Jung believed that a malady of the soul could be the best possible form of training for a Healer. The pains and burdens one bears and eventually overcomes is the source of great wisdom and healing power for others.  And from my experience, I could not agree more!  

I like to say I have gone down the 'Buffet Line of Life.'  I have been able to taste a bevy of pretty much everything life has to offer in the form of challenges, trials, and tribulations. And I feel like the luckiest man in the world to have had every one of these experiences. Because they have made me both the man and teacher/coach that I have come to be! 

SUPERHEROES TRAINING TIPS:

1.  CREATE A NEW ORIGIN STORY

All Superheroes have an origin story. From Superman losing his entire planet and having to face the fear of starting life over on foreign ground with out any of his family. To Batman watching as his mother and father were brutally murdered right before his eyes. They were able to turn their tragedy into their greatest triumphs! Well guess what, YOU have an Origin Story too! And chances are it is NOT serving you in any way! Unfortunately, most of us Superheroes see our past as a curse rather than a blessing.  We carry our childhood traumas with us into our adult lives. And usually from an energetic state of Victim Consciousness!  Reliving the same dysfunctional patterns time and time again. With declarations such as ‘Poor Me,’ ‘Why Me,’ or ‘If Only.’ To ‘I'm not good enough,’ (Lord have I been THERE!), Self Loathing and Self Doubt, not to mention feelings of never deserving love and abundance in all its forms! Sound like you?! If not, fanfrickintastic! Your Hero pin and t-shirt is in the mail! For the rest of you, there is work to be done! 

2.  START BY WRITING DOWN YOUR PERSONAL 'STORY' BUT FROM A NEW PERSPECTIVE. 

Start this process by FORGIVING YOURSELF for having these Past Thoughts Until You can Move Into a Space of Self Love!

Literally start from your earliest memories and begin to write down the 'New Story of Your Life.'  But refrain from seeing these events from your past perspective. The stories we tell ourselves about our past become the coming attractions of what is still to come. And I really don't think you want THAT!

While writing, concentrate on how the past painful experiences of your life have actually proven to be Blessings rather Curses. Start learning to ACCEPT them rather than reliving them in your mind. Acceptance frees you to transcend these story based thoughts and start to see them in a state of GRATITUDE! (Just like the Gift and Miraculous Blessing of my father's abandonment)  In your writing, it is vital to transcend such limiting beliefs in a manner you can actually now see your past challenges as nothing less than gifts of service to yourself and others.  Start 'connecting the dots' of your life.  Look for the patterns and pain points that keep showing up. This will shine a light on the areas of trauma that still need healing!   If looked at through the lens of OPPORTUNITY, the things you once thought as misfortune, were perfectly placed in you path to ‘Propel You Forward!’ If you are having great challenges doing this, stop and pray. Ask Spirit for guidance and Wisdom to see the Truth behind your pain! Then quiet your mind and listen. You will be shown the answers. PROMISE!  

You've suffered enough!  It's time for transcendence and TRANSFORMATION!  By creating a New Origin Story, you can start living from a state of Christ Consciousness and NOT Victim Consciousness. Because the past stories you have been programming your mind to believe, are powerful forms of RESISTANCE!  Resistance is the arch enemy of the Subconscious Mind; the powerhouse of our Abundance Making Machine! Is it any wonder that the exact same things keep popping up in your life year after year! Well, it's almost a brand new year, and 'Times, They Are a Changin!'

Commit to using the remainder of this year to both create and live from your new state of Power! Because if you knew how POWERFUL you truly are, there is absolutely NOTHING you would be afraid of!! And dreaming BIG would be your new mantra.........  And So It Is!

TIPS Toward REMOVING The Word IMPOSSIBLE From Your Vocabulary !

 

Do you ever find yourself refraining from tackling a project, or joining a new group, or shying away from putting yourself out there beyond your comfort zone?  Or perhaps you are afraid to go back to school, or take on new responsibilities at your job. Maybe you have a pattern of self sabotage that has caused many of your dreams and goals to go homeless. I know I have definitely had many moments where I held myself back from moving forward in an endeavor that would stretch me beyond my limited beliefs of what I thought I was capable of achieving!  And there were even a couple of times the moment for me to do so passed, leaving in its wicked wake a hot plate of REGRET!  Served with a big side helping of Guilt! And that simply doesn't feel good, am I right?

And I believe we all have more than an inkling of what is at the core of our hesitation toward trying something brand new and truly leaving all aspects of our comfort zones. And living the life of our dreams!  Of course the answer is plain old FEAR!  But I think that fear has a deep rooted cause I would like to discuss in today's post.  And it's something that has been conditioned and programmed within us by a myriad of sources; including family, friends, business associates, loving partners, and society at large.  So what is this cause I'm speaking of today?  It is the insidious word and belief in the IMPOSSIBLE! (A spiritual side hustle byproduct of thinking..    ‘I’m not good enough!’) 

I know we are all born with a childlike nature and curiosity, not to mention a deep rooted knowingness that ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING IS POSSIBLE!  And the reason being is that as we first manifest into the human condition, we are still laced with the power of the SOURCE energy that created us. And as we are still bathing within its true essence, we are infused with the knowingness our souls came into this realm BECAUSE anything is POSSIBLE! And we wanted to experience all the limitless possibilities that exist within our God given capabilities. Yet, as we move through our Hero’s Journey, we slowly come face to face with other Spirits who have been told that life is too damn hard.  And that NOT ALL DREAMS COME TRUE!  Most often, many of these individuals could never muster the courage to follow and fulfill their own dreams and desires, so they impress upon others that exact same MINDSET! Still others espouse that money doesn't grow on trees. Or even worse, that wealth is reserved for the privileged, NOT you or me. Because the rich will always keep getting richer and the poor, poorer! Does any of that sound familiar? I'm fairly confident that at least some of those declarations have been tossed about in your presence on many occasions. And even created your current life's MINDSET which just may have you in a perpetual state of taking one step forward, then one step backwards! And that is absolutely antithetical to the TRUTH of how ABUNDANT the Universe is and wants to BE in all of our lives!   

Instead, how amazing would it be if we shifted our energy from ourselves and one another towards the following proclamation: Our world is rooted in THE POWER OF POSSIBLE! 

And concurrently remembering The Universe has life rigged one thousand percent in your favor! In fact, SPIRIT actually desires and even NEEDS you to succeed and fulfill your sacred earthly mission. You were given a unique and very specific set of super powers in order to do just that! In addition to a vibrant, powerful and never before witnessed personality perfectly suited to CRUSH all of your heartfelt goals! 

Please understand, YOU are so incredibly special, because NOBODY else can accomplish the very tasks you came here to fulfill! And I truly mean NOT ONE other Spirit on a planet of nearly 8 billion people! Try to actually fathom what I just said! I shiver just thinking about how different things would become with such a transcendental shift towards that higher consciousness.  Mind Blown...... 🤯   

In fact, in order to evolve in this realm, it is quite necessary to consistently pick more and more challenging situations and personal goals. Ones which will force you to rise beyond what has already been established as a false ceiling of what is POSSIBLE FOR YOU! Nobody thought is what possible to run a four minute mile.  Until Roger Bannister did it in 1954!  The Wright Brothers proved to the entire world that man made flight was indeed POSSIBLE when they accomplished it in 1903.  

My point is that if most of the greatest pioneers, visionaries, and luminaries that have stepped foot in this world would have believed in the world IMPOSSIBLE, think about how different life would be for us all! 

That's why I advocate to my friends, family members, co-workers, and clients how important it is to NEVER lose their childlike nature.  And I mean N E V E R!!  Because childlike energy is infused with TRUTH.  It is injected with pure LOVE and WONDER!  And most importantly, it still Re-members that anything is POSSIBLE!  And when we allow ourselves to be aligned with Truth and Trust, you are activating the God Mind within you!  And with the power of the Holy Spirit within you, even the thought of IMPOSSIBILITY DOES NOT EXIST! After all,  this  word itself when broken down is
 ~~ I'm Possible!! Read that last sentence again! 

The good news is that we all have the ability to transcend our own MINDSETS, the bedrock of our Personal Power, toward the understanding we all have Unlimited Potential!  As most of you in The New Age Nerd community are fully aware, THE BATMAN is my personal spiritual totem.  He is the only Superhero who has no real super powers. He has suffered through great pain and unimaginable loss.  Yet he mastered how to channel his pain and anger into his personal Calling.  The earthly Mission he came here to fulfill! His Hero's Journey is the purest metaphor for how we too can become the greatest version of ourselves, no matter what life has thrown in our way!  By constantly perfecting his BEING;  Mind, Body, and Soul,  he became a beacon of INSPIRATION with the message that ‘One Man’ can make a difference! And that anyone can be THE BATMAN....... 

As he said to Commissioner Gordon in the film 'The Dark Knight Rises', "A Hero can be anyone.  Even a man doing something as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know the world hadn't ended Even when all empirical evidence proved to the contrary ."  How can you not LOVE this guy!!

To stand directly in the face of fear..
To look fear square in the eyes with an 
attitude that says "Bring It On!"
To smirk at fear, actually intimidating it, if only for a moment..
That is what one must do to create the possible...

The 2025 New Age Nerd MANIFESTO!

 

A New Age Nerd knows we are all Spiritual beings having a Human experience. And that we came into this grand experience with TWO minds. ONE, is called the conscious mind and is indeed sacred. However, the second is called the SUBCONSCIOUS MIND and it is our direct connection back to SPIRIT! It is the shared Universal powerhouse of limitless energy and infinite intelligence. It may be called upon at any time in order for us to literally ‘BEND REALITY’ to our very preference!

He acknowledges the true power of his words, and thus chooses them with care, intention, and kindness.

A New Age Nerd strives to "practice what they preach,"  for they know that a spiritual vocabulary without action becomes No Thing more than Spiritual Entertainment.

She has the deep understanding that the Universe has NO boundaries and is constantly expanding. Thus she knows that her Spirit is LIMITLESS!

He knows SEPARATION is an illusion.. and that " WE ARE ALL ONE."

A New Age Nerd does not confuse kindness...  With weakness… EVER!

He understands that every soul has a CALLING. A Unique Mission that only YOU can fulfill in order to assist in ushering in ‘The New Earth!’  And so your were given a set of SUPER POWERS. Use them wisely and always in conjunction with love and kindness!

She accepts that ONE thing she has full control over is who she associates with.  And it will be the greatest determining factor of her happiness and success. So she picks her TRIBE with a WICKED WISDOM.

The opinions of others have little effect on a New Age Nerd, for they know they only have to PROVE things to themselves.

A New Age Nerd understands the difference between Success and SIGNIFICANCE.  So they are always looking to bring more value into the world.

He believes the greatest gift we have been given is the PRESENT. 

So Her favorite motto is "BE HERE NOW."

She is a ‘SOULdier’ for LOVE.  A fierce Connoisseur of Consciousness.  A Ravishing Rock Star of Spirit. A Spiritual Gangster! And a Steward of Remembrance.  So she reminds others they are all of these things too! 

A New Age Nerd understands they may be the only bible/torah/koran that someone will ever read.  Thus they hold each and every co-creation as uniquely SACRED.

He strives to be worthy of his sufferings.  For his definition of a "Sin" is to suffer without meaning.  

She takes RESPONSIBILITY for her actions. No complaining, no explaining.

A New Age Nerd commits daily to become ‘The Greatest Version of The Grandest Vision" ever held of themselves.  In this way, they worry not about being better than others, but rather being better than they used to be.

She knows surrendering is the highest form of ALLOWANCE.  So she surrenders her Spirit to the Universe often, as not to block the Abundance always waiting for her highest good.

A New Age Nerd has a fervent FAITH that everything and anything other than LOVE, is simply an ILLUSION.

TIPS To STOP Being So DAMN Hard On Yourself!!

 

One of my favorite Eddie Murphy films is ‘Coming to America.’  While Murphy displayed an uncanny ability to pull off a cacophony of various characters throughout the film, it is his iconic portrayal of a poor man's lounge singer in Randy Watson that still causes me to have fits of combustable laughter just thinking of his filmed antics.  His frustrated cover performance of Whitney Houston's ‘The Greatest Love of All’ with his band 'Sexual Chocolate' to a completely uninterested crowd remains the highlight of the film for me.  Admittedly, the satirical subtext within that scene has become more profound within my spiritual sensibilities as I have grown older and wiser since the film's initial 1987 release. Like most comedians of a GENIUS level, their art is infused with deeper meaning, and self realized constructs than mere laughs and iconic characterizations.  

In the film, Murphy plays a fictional Prince of unimaginable wealth, who seeks to find true love for WHO HE IS INSIDE; not because of his stature and position in life. And it is the Randy Watson debacle that is just one scene that underlines the theme of the film; that being one of SELF LOVE and self acceptance. The understanding that our entire worth is encapsulated by the simple fact we are all unique, gorgeous, brilliant emanations of Spirit. There is not one thing we have to do to prove that fact, other than simply being ourselves.  And then share our own distinct form of the genius within (and is our constant co-pilot) with the world. Always and in ALL WAYS! 

And yet, as simple as all this sounds, most of us have turned against ourselves and become a world of  destructive  SELF TOUGH LOVE as well as our own worst enemy. How is it that we have become so damn hard on ourselves? Although we were born into a realm of unimaginable creative abundance, opportunity, and unlimited possibility, most of us live our lives as though we are part of "The Hunger Games."  Our emotional moments are filled with thoughts of guilt, shame, regret, lack, cracked confidence and fear. We spend much more time in self judgement that self progression. Left unchecked, this form of energy can eventually lead to depression, anxiety, and isolation of every sort. And the cumulative effect of such thinking is causing us to play much smaller than we were ever meant to. And the caustic byproduct is neglecting our individual Superhero's Journey to cling to some illusionary form of stability, rather than exploding into the iconoclastic luminaries we came here to BE!

There are many reasons for this paradigm shift in our sense of the SELF we choose to be rather than the SELF we truly are at our core.  Influences from friends, family, the media, and social constructs that are now built around constant competition amongst ourselves.  That's why a portion of The New Age Nerd's manifesto states we........ 

“commit daily to become ‘The Greatest Version of The Grandest Vision’ ever held of ourselves.  In this way, we worry not about being better than others, but rather BEING better than we used to be.”

Like many writers, coaches, healers, and performers, I'm often susceptible to this epidemic of 'BEING TOO HARD ON MYSELF.'  Most of us on this list are incredible sensitive and compassionate. We feel deeply and passionately for others and often find it quite challenging in discriminating and compartmentalizing between others pain and our own. Our greatest strengths can also become our greatest weaknesses.  

So if you find that you could use some tweaking toward a greater sense of  ‘The Greatest Love of All’, here are some tips to guide your way back to being at peace and a deep knowingness of WHO YOU REALLY ARE.

1.  Look at everything in your life as a BLESSON.

Karen Salmansohn coined this phrase that I think is absolutely brilliant.  In her words a BLESSON is “when you are able to view painful lessons as blessings.  In other words, a BLESSON is what happens when you see the BLESSING in the painful LESSON that your challenge taught you.”

Whether something has happened, shown up, been lost, or ended, looking at the event as a BLESSON is a wonderful way of not shifting any blame on ourselves as part of the process! I LOVE it! I hope you will too!

2.  You’re On a Superhero's Journey.
Rather than espousing something new here, I thought I would use a portion from a past post that I believe perfectly encapsulates how the Hero's Journey can be one of the most powerful ways to channel our pain, challenges, and suffering into an incredible productive manner.

“But what absolutely struck at the core of my utter BEING was his explanation of what he has termed ‘The Hero's Journey’.    And how everything that life brings us is no thing short of EXACTLY what we need in order to fulfill our purpose here on Earth.  Of course I had heard of the Hero's Journey during my previous travels.  But this time, I REALLY HEARD IT.  Truly understood its meaning with a ferocity of acceptance and purposeful enlightenment.  I wasn't a failure.  In fact, ‘just the opposite’,  I thought.  If I had gone through THIS much suffering and pain so far in my life, then my Hero's Journey must be pretty big.  I had always believed I was here to be a guide to assist others on their warriors path, but now, I KNEW IT.  Big difference!

So no matter what your current situation may be, there is HOPE.  In those moments of despair, please remember that there is a PURPOSE for everything you are going through. I PROMISE!  You are not alone.  That's what we are doing here, together.  Trying to help one another figure out why we are going through so much pain and suffering, and how we can channel it into our reason for being!”  

3.  Remember Failure is an Illusion.

Did you know that it took Thomas Edison over 2,000 times to try and get the electric lightbulb to glow.  Imagine how emotionally gut wrenching it must have been for him to invite his group of fellow inventors in to a room time and time again, only to ‘flip’ the switch that should have illuminated the bulb before them, only to experience....  NOTHING! NADA! 

However, Edison had an incredible sense of his own connection to SOURCE.  He famously told people that he NEVER actually failed at being unable to manipulate electricity.  Instead, he reframed it by stating that every single time he flipped the switch and no light appeared, he actually succeeded at proving yet another way that electricity would not work.  Has a light gone off in your noggin about how you can reframe any of your perceived present or future failures?! 

4.  Learn the difference between Being a Genius and HAVING A GENIUS.

This comes from a TED talk given by famous ‘Eat, Pray, Love’ author Elizabeth Gilbert.  And it has radically changed my handling of creative self judgement in a BIG WAY.    After Gilbert received a ginormous amount of acclaim and attention (Hello Oprah!) after the debut of her first book, she became fraught with paralyzing fear.  She has stated, “the result of which means that everywhere I go now people treat me like I'm doomed... They come up to me now all worried and they say “aren't you afraid you are never going to be able to top that?  I'm sure afraid you're going to keep writing for your whole life and you're never going to again be able to create a book for anybody in the world to care about at all, ever again?”.

She found solace from the world of Greek Myth, and the original meaning of GENIUS.  Back in that timeframe, people did  NOT believe that creativity came from human beings. People believed creativity was this DIVINE attendant Spirit that came to human beings from some distant and unknown SOURCE.  The Romans were the first to label this type of spiritual muse from the ether a GENIUS.  They live in and around us, and like a modern day UBER, available 24-7 to assist us in our creative intentions.  

I call this Infinite Intelligence. Or SOURCE energy.  Spirit. The I AM. As Gilbert now understands, the knowingness that she is simply the vessel through which Spirit chooses to speak takes off a lot of the pressure.  Everything is a co-creation, and the way to ensure that you receive the assistance from the Infinite Intelligence that is accessible to us all is to have humility. And the belief that YOU ARE WORTHY to be used as a divine vessel for your own magical muse to work through!

Something I have to constantly remind myself is that life does not happen TO you. But rather 
FOR you and through you. Everything is a blessing. It is so important to be at peace with what is. And to remember that you are a BLESSED and DIVINE creation. 

There has never been anyone like you, and there NEVER will be again. We matter. We are all here for an unfathomably important purpose and being too hard on ourselves will only greatly reduce your ability and the time you have to share your LIGHT with the world!

The SECRET SAUCE To More EMPOWERING Relationships!

 

Today I would like to introduce all you New Age Nerds to a conceptual construct that has truly transformed not only my coaching practice, but also all my personal relationships.  This tool has permanently shifted my life's perspective back toward's SELF LOVE.  It has also deepened my connection and understanding of true forgiveness towards the entire population on this planet! I call this concept Tapping Into Inner Innocence. 

My own childhood was fraught with fear, confusion, and an overwhelming sense of self judgement.  After my birthfather abandoned our family in Southern California when I was 3, my mother was left without money or the support system of her large family.  So she moved us across the country to the greater Washington, D.C. area.  The entire ordeal took quite a terrible toll on her own young (she was just 24) emotional psyche. And so my sister and I were often left in the care of some individuals with less than loving ideals.  It got to the extreme of me being told that my father's leaving was all 'my fault,' and my mother would leave the family too if we ever told anyone of their dastardly deeds.  As you might imagine, the brunt force of these experiences carved a deep, traumatic wound within my entire being.  

I became an extreme introvert, (hard to believe that now) and kept all my emotions hidden better than a 'Where's Waldo' book.  My sense of SELF was very low indeed.  And I ate daily sandwiches of extreme self judgement and loathing.  Pretty much the perfect recipe for dysfunctional behavioral patterns in all areas of my life.  Especially in the dating department.  If she NEEDS me, she'll never LEAVE me was my mantra.  Ask how that worked for me.....?   Not so much!  ;0)

It's no wonder the second I got the opportunity, I moved back to Los Angeles.  There was something in my inner knowingness since that very young age solidifying my desire in returning to the "scene of the crimes."  To heal your wounds you must first face them. And my Super Power of emotional intelligence informed me of this truth ever since I can recall.  Thank you Universe for granting me the stewardship of this form of energy in action.  It's been a soulful life saver!

My ten year jaunt in LA was where my spiritual transformation really took off. Nearly 30 years ago, the Left Coast was much more progressive in its acceptance of spiritual modalities than the DC area.  And I took full advantage of its welcoming spiritual nature.  And during my Superhero's Journey while there, I came across a different understanding behind the true meaning of FORGIVENESS.  A core transformational shift in its radical power once adhered to from this more transcendent nature. One that is now a pillar that anchors my entire spiritual paradigm for living a deeply authentic and purposeful life. And things have never been the same since.  

The long held, standard practice of teaching FORGIVENESS, relies on the principality of separation. As though YOU and I are two separate beings.  When in truth, separation is a fallacy. FOR WE ARE ALL ONE!  Any experience of separation is simply our ego in play. Its very job is to keep us feeling separate and disconnected from one another.  And even more damaging, holding us back from experiencing our ONENESS with the Universe. Thus we are often taught that forgiveness is a form of pardoning ourselves or another from a perceived 'wrong doing.' It's the ultimate form of judgement if used under that pretense.  

For once you relinquish the ego's hold over the dominion of your beingness, you become realigned with the power and understanding of TRUE PERCEPTION. The remembrance that everything and everyone in our life's experience is part of the One God Mind.  You see yourself in all others.  The SELF becomes fully realized as the great I AM.  You begin to live and experience life from the space of your Super Heroic Higher Self. And once again, you become your brother's and sister's keeper.  Suddenly, the manner in which you wield the power of FORGIVENESS is forever transformed.

As it so eloquently states in the book God I Am, "This is what is meant by remembering God, or the truth, for one's brother. He gives his brother's separation away, therefore he forgives! This is the true and only meaning of forgiveness.  Forgiveness, as it is commonly seen, first establishes guilt and then pardons it.  Again, perverted truth, twisted by the Ego's Law of Reversal.  Now true perception has the exact same effect, although it is still a step away from Oneness.  It is still cognizant of separation, but is no more part of it.  It stands apart from the dream. It recognizes separation for what it is: only error, NOT sin - therefore it cannot see guilt whatsoever.  Not seeing guilt, it only sees innocence.  This is True Perception's way of giving away, of forgiving separation.   This is where the miracle comes in to heal."

And what a powerfully disruptive healing process the true nature of forgiveness becomes in our lives. It is the most effective manner of tapping into your INNER INNOCENCE.  A realm where judgement in any form vanquishes back behind its illusionary veil. And we stay steadfast in the moment of NOW.  A state of spiritual enlightenment. Fully connected to SOURCE. And in our brother we see a reflection of our SELF.  And all of our co-creations become joy filled opportunities for-giving him/her back to themselves. Assisting them in awakening from their slumber so they re-member who they truly are.  Their authentic SELVES. What a wonderful world..........................

Our INNER INNOCENCE knows not any form of condemnation.  It seeks only to reunite. To see ourselves and others in pure divinity.  It showers us in LOVE BUCKETS. It sees nothing but pure potentiality with 20/20 vision. What the EGO hoards, it gives away freely and without expectation.  It assists us in understanding the gifts behind our former false beliefs.  By showing what we assume are wrong doings, actually light a path toward the places within us where healing LOVE and LIGHT can still be applied.

The most deep seeded form of healing comes through the use of our INNER INNOCENCE. For it allows us to be freed from any misconceptions of separation.  Instead of staying in victim consciousness, we begin to build a solid foundation of courage and confidence.  Rather than living in fear of what LIFE MIGHT DO TO YOU, this- now SELF realized you- starts to HAPPEN TO LIFE!  

And I now use this tool every single day. It has shown me the true path toward forgiveness. Any individuals and their 'wrong doings' toward me have been shifted back from anger and judgement toward LOVE. Through this revelatory paradigm, many of my wounds have healed. I receive all my fellow brothers and sisters through the eyes of ONENESS.  And am once again free to inhale their individual brilliance in all its forms.  I seek only to unite.  And awaken others to the same TRUTH..............

Start incorporating the process of tapping into your INNER INNOCENCE immediately!
Like everything else it is a process that must be nurtured.  One terrific place to start is by remembering that you cannot make a mistake! Life is not a test. Everything in your experience is an opportunity to learn and grow. You are something akin to a Spirit based scientist and life is the palette from which you experiment. If something doesn't 'work out' simply learn the lesson and try again.  Transcend the catabolic energy that infuses the term 'mistake' with that of a misstep. Which is totally innocent in nature.  BIG DIFFERENCE! A misstep has the same vibrational resonance as Guilt.  And guilt is a terrific teacher. It's job is to show us the feeling attached to making a misstep.  And so we become much more eager to readjust and realign our actions the next go around.  A mistake holds the same vibrational essence  of shame.  When we feel that we are whatever it is that we have done. Shame is incredibly nasty and becoming an epidemic on this planet. The habit of shaming builds on fear, hate, and self loathing.  

Another suggestion is to practice the art of receiving others in the NOW. Without any preconceived notions based on their past behavior. Practice seeing and honoring them as utterly innocent in nature. Doing the very best they know how. You will be amazed with the transformation in all your relationships when you stop holding people lock downed within ‘the box’of their former selves.  

Please stop with the notion that 'people don't change.'  When you choose to see only the magnificence in a fellow Spirit, you are creating a loving, safe space for both sides to continue to grow and learn. And more often than not, this co-creative process will birth the greatest version of who they really are. Right before your very eyes. Try it.  You'll LOVE it! I promise!

INNER INNOCENCE has the ability to transcend limitations without fear of judgment. It gives you the tenacity to tackle bigger goals and manifest MAGIC. It holds your space in every NOW moment. Where abundance in the form of creativity, courage, and confidence flows freely like an 'All You Can Drink' service station. So pony on up and order a few of its Cosmic Cocktails.
