It's been almost a year, since I deeply perused my mind
Trying to find the words to express the myriad of ways I feel
Did I use this time wisely... any truths did I find
Or did the constant pain cause my heart and soul to stay sealed
I won't feign to the fact that I shied away from playing this Earthy game
Watching one another spew daily hate and pain just became to great
Posting egoistic thoughts on Facebook and Twitter...all in the name of fame
I began to question whether a lack of any redemption would be our ultimate fate
Our long in the making divided collective consciousness then became so great
It caused an insurrection that threatened our political machinations
Yet six months later it seems as though finding common ground might be too late
Despite the most ardent attempts of our political leaders and our forefathers foundations
While Black Lives do matter, and all forms of gender justice now has its place
In the media I am still seeing horrendous atrocities that seem like too much of the same
As though we are all running toward the notion of finding just a smidgeon of Grace
Yet it feels like we are still trying to position ourselves toward winning some game
A horrendous pandemic rocked the World down to its very knees
Shining a light on those of us who choose daily to be sinners or saints
It's all a matter of perspective, how we choose to navigate these choppy seas
An opportunity to see 'The Other' as ourselves, for the gift of Love is never too late
And as horrific as Covid might still be, it's simply a second rate opening act
For climate change is showing its ugly head, knocking hard like a daily barage
And I'm hearing the complaints from people who choose to ignore the facts
Especially if it causes them any inconvenience, like having fewer cars in the garage
As dour as things may seem, God didn't give us this planet simply for free
It's past time for us to finally come together as ONE
And become the stewards of this World as was always meant to be
Our Souls collectively shining bright as luminous as our very Sun
So stop pointing a finger at all those still not doing their share
And instead ask yourself, what gifts do I have that I can offer
The answers to our worlds ills are lying soulfully dormant, let's start right there...
Random acts of service are free, and more powerful than filling up your churches coffers
If you find yourself afraid, not knowing where to start
Just go outside, and look to your left, and then to the right
I bet you just might see others starting to fill up their conscious carts
For they too have heard the Angels singing "It's still not too late to FIGHT"
