Have You Hit ROCK BOTTOM... Fantastic!!! Here Is WHY!!!

I have a voracious appetite for biographies.  It started around my late 20's when I had gone through my first absolutely period of being at Rock Bottom. (Yes, I've had many!)  Not that misery loves company in my book, but from an INSPIRATIONAL standpoint, I love to learn about how far down the rabbit hole someone had to fall before they picked themselves off the mat and rebuilt their life.  It gives me hope and a fervent vigor that if they can do it, so can I , damn it!! And what I have ascertained from the comeback stories of so many iconoclasts and spirits of great reverence?!!?  I have learned that HITTING ROCK BOTTOM IS THE GREATEST THING THAT WILL EVER HAPPEN TO YOU!  So if that is where you currently find yourself to be, BRAVO!!  You are EXACTLY where you are meant to be!  Now I am the first to say that being in this possession is by NO MEANS easy!!!   In fact, it can be quite harrowing and even down right brutal at times.  But as the creator of the Harry Potter franchise has repeatedly stated, “I built my entire life from the foundation of being at rock bottom.”  

For those who don't know her story, she was a single mom who was completely out of money and close to losing her home.  One day, in a cafe and in complete desperation, she wrote down the basic outline for Harry Potter on a napkin, even though she had never written a novel in her life.  As we all know what happened since, she is now one of the richest people in the world!!  And her story is FAR from unique.  There are countless stories of individuals who have hit rock bottom only to scale the heights of abundance through blood, sweat, and plain old determination.  It's part of what the idea of the American Dream is all about.  

Before fingers start being pointed in my direction, regular readers of The New Age Nerd know a great deal about the times I have hit my own version of Rock Bottom.  AND I must admit, when you are in the middle of the storm, it can feel downright awful.  But as part of the process, you go through a period that I like to call a BREAK OPEN.  Others call it a BREAK DOWN, but I don't believe there is anything that deems the process a period of breaking down, but rather your heart uses this period to completely break OPEN.  And when that occurs, the ONLY thing that pours out is complete and utter LOVE!  It is very much like the process that a caterpillar goes through during its transformation into a butterfly in that once the process occurs, THERE IS NO GOING BACK!

It is usually during this time that we begin the process of finding our purpose.  Because I have repeatedly stated in this blog, we all have the same purpose.  Which is to share LOVE and Re-membrance to one another.  And so once our heart breaks open, the Love that gushes out can be channeled toward the manner in which you choose to share it!!  It's all part of the Hero's/heroine's Journey.....

This can no doubt be a lonely time as well as a time of great loss.  For during this transformation, we let go of those things that no longer serve us.  This can be in the form of friends, relatives, jobs, and lovers.  Not to mention old belief patterns and paradigms that formed the old foundational systems of our life pre-Break Open!  And that is NOT AN EASY PROCESS!  It's also why so few people hear the call of their Soul and pick up the phone to answer the voice on the other side guiding your Spirit back home.  

In my experience, and those of soooo many I have heard and read about, the gifts that come from the courage to hit Rock Bottom and never give up are almost too many to list.  Here is the short one:  compassion, wisdom, empathy, patience, strength, perseverance, and re-membrance of who you really are and why you are here!  Pretty groovy stuff if you ask me.  :0)

Even the Bible has its allegory for the magic of being broken!  Jesus the Christ would often BREAK bread and that is when the bread would multiply to feed thousands!!  I believe this is because it is a way to show us that we must first be broken open before our own abundance can be brought through us and into our lives and the lives of everyone we touch!

It is absolutely crucial to have a good support system in place during this process.  For there are times in which you are going to want to give up and throw in the preverbal towel.  This is when it is so important to have a group of Spirits who will step into the darkness with you and pull you back into the light when you are ready!  

If there is ONE certainty I can share with you that has all been my heartfelt experience about hitting Rock Bottom it is that you come out the other side with a renewed sense of how GRAND life is and you don't want to waste another minute doing anything but that which brings you joy and happiness!!
