MODERN MYTH MESSAGES— The Hobbit…!

 

The Hobbit is the precursor to the Lord of the Rings saga. It tells the story of Bilbo Baggins, a kind hearted, but fearful Hobbit whose dreams of grand adventures outside of his village (The Shire) have gone homeless. Now completely content in staying stagnate, his life has become a mundane routine of caring for 'the things' he has slowly collected. However, he is given the opportunity to forever change his destiny by joining a ragtag group of 13 dwarves who are intent on taking back their homeland from a giant, fire breathing dragon called Smaug! 

As is most often the case, this 'Reluctant Superhero' is at first slow to accept the challenge, scared to leave the comfort zone of a life that he thinks is keeping him safe from emotional, physical, and spiritual harm. 

In one final attempt to awaken Bilbo from his own slumber, he is met by the grand wizard Gandalf. For when the Super Hero is ready, the teacher will always appear! And Bilbo is about to discover that he is much more willing to accept his life's CALLING than he ever realized!



GANDALF: You've been sitting quietly for far too long! Tell me! When did doilies and your mother's dishes become so important to you? I remember a young Hobbit who was always running off in search of elves in the woods. And would stay out late. Come home after dark, trailing mud and twigs and fireflies. A young Hobbit who would have liked nothing better than to find out what was beyond the borders of The Shire! The world is not in your books and maps. (pointing to a huge, painted, stained glass bay window) It's out there!

BILBO: I can't just go running off into the blue! I am a Baggins, of Bagend! 

GANDALF: You are also a Took! Did you know that you're great, great, great, great Uncle Bullroarer Took was so large he could ride a real horse. Yes! Well, he could! In the Battle of Greenfields, he charged the goblin ranks. He swung his club so hard, it knocked the Goblin King's head clean off and it sailed a hundred yards through the air and went down a rabbit hole. And thus the battle was won. And the game of golf invented at the same time. (sly smile)

BILBO: I do believe you made that up!

GANDALF: Well, all good stories deserve embellishment. You'll have a tale or two to tell of your own when you come back. 

BILBO: Can you promise that I will come back?

GANDALF: No. (two knowing beats) And if you do, you will not be the same.

Everyone is a SUPERHERO!  And I do mean EVERYONE!  No exceptions granted.  Yes, even you 'reluctant superheroes.'  Especially all you 'reluctant superheroes!'    Those of you who are still playing 'hard to get' with the Universe. You know who you are!  For there is a deep uneasiness within your very being that constantly shows you whispered signs of a CALLING yet to be fulfilled.  A mission so majestic in scope that it scares you!  So you are still refusing its call. And that's OK.  FOR NOW! But get ready, for it won't be long before you will be called off the sidelines of life into massive action. Just sayin'!

For all of life itself is a Superhero's Journey.  An experience of radical spiritual transformation.  In which the Universe expresses itself through and as US!  The Grand Creator seeks to expand always and in all ways.  It's the very nature of God herself.  And as the late legendary physicist Stephen Hawking discovered, "The boundary condition of the Universe....is that is has NO boundary."  No boundary and that means NO LIMITS!  You chose to come here to carry out a CALLING that was Divinely Devised.  You carry a divinity spark of pure SPIRIT that is 100% heroic!  Part Martin Luther King Jr., part Yoda, Wonder Woman, and Captain America, but all Christ Consciousness!  By fulfilling your unique Mission, the byproduct is assisting and adding to the expansion of the Universe.  Which ultimately means creating more heaping buckets of LOVE!  The core component of all that is.......

The extraordinary spiritual teacher and master coach Martha Beck, in her book, "Finding Your Way in a Wild New World," describes all of us SUPERHEROES this way:

"Most of us feel a sense of mission involving a major transformation in human experience; a strong sense that whatever that mission is, it's getting closer in time; a compulsion to master certain skills in preparation for this half-understood personal mission; high levels of empathy; an urgent desire to lessen the suffering of humans, animals, and plants; and a loneliness stemming from a sense of difference, despite being generally social. "

We aren't here so much to save the world as we are to SHIFT IT!  If you are here now, it means you were 'tagged' by the Universe to discover and unleash your Super Heroic Higher Self on this planet!  And you chose to accept this 'Mission Possible', because THAT IS WHAT SUPERHEROES DO!  We seek the grandest of adventures.  BLISS is our birthright!  And we devour any chance to experience it in all its magnificence! When we are summoned into 'being of service', we don't walk, we eventually run toward our CALLING!  

As the master of myth magic himself, Joseph Campbell said, "It is miraculous. I even have a superstition that has grown on me as a result of invisible hands coming all the time- namely, that if you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living.  When you can see that, you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you. I say,  follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be." 

Our government is in complete turmoil, climate disruption is threatening our way of existence, the middle class is shrinking by the day, and fear and hate have created one of our countries, if not the worlds, greatest periods of divided disconnection.  And while there are many who have awoken from their slumber, still others are stuck in choosing spiritual sides.  Either stay in the darkness, where it's safe, or have the courage to be reborn into a new identity.  That of a Superhero!  The Superhero everyone came here to be!  

Becoming a Superhero isn't easy. Far from it!  That fancy cape must be earned!   You must leave behind the world of comfort you think is protecting you from pain, to step into this New World that holds the truth of your Supreme Power.  And you know at times,  it's gonna hurt.  But aren't you in enough pain already? If you aren't already following your personal CALLING, I'm sure you are experiencing periods of listless low energy, disillusionment, being directionless, or the burning knowingness there is more to life than 'this.'  Perhaps your life feels meaningless and devoid of emotional zest.  Maybe you've even put your desires back on the bookshelf of broken dreams.

Hiding from your authentic self isn't the answer you seek.  It never is!  Superheroes are built for anything and everything this world can dish out!  The very process that birthed us into this reality caused your mother a great deal of suffering.  (And that's why everyone knows mom's are all Superheroes!)  Any birthing process causes suffering. My very definition of the word itself is:

Summoning our
Ultimate
Fears &
Frailty
Encouraging
Rebirth

But please remember that you don't have to take one single step of this Journey by yourself. Again invoking the sage words of Campbell, "Furthermore, we have not even to risk the adventure alone, for the heroes of all time have gone before us.  The labyrinth is thoroughly known. We have only to follow the thread of the hero path, and where we had though to find an abomination, we shall find a god. And where we had thought to travel outward, we will come to the center of our own existence. And where we had thought to be alone, we will be with all the world."

And the world needs its Superheroes now more than ever! There is a strong disturbance in the Force/Source of the Universe.  And it's causing a mass crack in consciousness.  One by one, souls on this planet are beginning to awaken to the SUPER HEROIC AGE that is now upon us. Why do you think Superhero movies have completely resurrected and transformed Tinseltown's creative juices? Since the beginning of time, art has always played a vital role in its reflection of our current cultural distinctions.  As Harold Goddard states, "The destiny of the world is less determined by the battles lost and won than by the stories it loves and believes in." And right now, we all love stories about Superheroes!  Wouldn't you agree? Like all great mythology, these stories are helping us remember our own heroic nature.  

When the student is ready, the teacher will always appear.  So I suggest you take a close look around. The signs are everywhere.  In the song on the radio, and the book you are currently reading. On the next TV show you watch or the next blog you read! (wink, wink) LOL  

Just as we are all Superheroes, our collective purpose is also one in the same.  We are all here to be of LOVING, bliss filled service to ourselves and each other! BOOM! Period and exclamation point! Our individual CALLINGS are the vehicles through which we deliver that form of service.  And your CALLING has just as much to do with what you are being as what it is you are doing with your life.  Think of it this way.  Your purpose is the beingness and your calling is the doingness part of your Superhero's Journey!  And by that I mean being kind, compassionate, patient, joyful and loving.  The doingness is the divine assignment you came here to fulfill!  Together, they combine to join forces like two BSF's.  Best of Super Friends!  And in tandem, they create the love filled expansion the Universe desires........

And for all your Super Heroic efforts, you get to experience all the abundance within the Universe! All the wealth, health, joy, laughter, light, LOVE and BLISS in the Cosmos!  As you ask, so shall it be given. That's a pretty fair trade off, right? I say Hell yes!  

The issue isn't IF, but WHEN will you decide to make that leap of FAITH?!  That very first step into the Heroic Life that is still awaiting you.  Worry not if you are still on the sidelines of life.  For your CALLING is very patient............

The Universe is starting to nudge you toward pure KNOWINGNESS!  For every season has its time, and for the Superheroes of this world, the clock closes in on midnight. The hour of heroic spiritual transformation is upon us all!

As it states in the revelatory book 'God I Am,' "There is no single path that leads to the realization of the Oneness of all Life.  Each soul has to walk its own path.  However - all roads lead to the same homeland.  In truth there is no road to travel, for what we call a path is but the awakening of a soul from its deep slumber. But, when our destination is in sight, you may find it was the grandest journey you have ever undertaken, because on this journey we are homeward bound."

So finish that book! Start that business! Open up that art studio! Become a teacher! Design that daringly new swanky building! Direct that movie! Write that symphony! Get up on stage and speak, sing, or dance your heart away! Whatever you do, please Do Not allow the gifts you came to unleash out into this world perish within your earthly body! Because THAT my friend, is the real definition of a SIN!

And please always remember there is only ONE thing to ever be afraid of.  And that, my New Age Nerds is 'Father Time.' Because not one of us knows when our time will be up!

How To CREATE A New SUPER HEROIC Origin Story And Supercharge Your LIFE..!

  

My childhood was fraught with feelings of utter disillusionment.  And pangs of painful events that imprinted on my spiritual psyche a blueprint filled with the deep held belief that LOVE had to be earned.  And perhaps even worse, the idea that CARE and COMPASSION were available only through chaos and struggle. My birth father abandoned our family when I was a toddler and I always felt it was my fault!  Quite a load for such tiny shoulders to bare.  It's no wonder that I developed a horrendous case of abandonment issues. It got so bad, that as a first grader, I would take the bus to our elementary school about a mile from our home. While the other kids on the bus were keen on a full day of fun, first grade activities, I had a COMPLETELY different agenda! As the bus pulled up to the entrance to the 1st through 3rd grade wing of the school, I was in full spy mode.  Surveying the area for any administrators in the vicinity who could possibly thwart my well devised plans!  

As the bus doors opened, we all got up, one row at a time, and exited the vehicle to make the preverbal 'straight line' that marks the tenets of first grade Superheroes in Training.  As soon as the bus had emptied, our 'line leader' would start us walking toward the door adjacent to our classroom just inside the building. I made sure to keep a low profile, all the while still scouting the area for potential school personnel.  There was a ginormous bush just to the left of the entrance of the building.  And just as I approached this leafy refuge, with a spry agility, I would jump right into the back of the bush with nothing less than a whisk of air left in my wake!  

I would watch all the other kids as they dutifully entered the school door for the day.  My wrist watch was synchronized with the school bell that rang promptly at 8:15.  Still in complete stealth mode, I peered through the small openings in between this oversized bushy plant until I saw the very last of the school's attendants leave their assigned posts to go back into the school to teach their students.  For safe measures, I waited an extra two minutes and then walked out from behind my hidden haven as though it was my god given right and preceded to walk the mile back to my house!  Back pack in tow, my steps were filled with a steely sense of confidence that usurped any feelings of guilt or wrongdoing. Until I reached my final destination, in which I knew my tiny tush was in danger, in the form of my mother who stayed at home during the days!  To be fair, although she was obviously beyond frustrated with me, her care and deep concern far outweighed her wrath.  

She knew my real intention for this ritual (I did this on 27 different occasions) was rooted in a deep trauma filled fear of being abandoned; once again.  I had been extremely close to my father and his leaving the family had affected me on every level.  Mind, body, and spirit.  Not to mention the crippling guilt that I carried surrounding the 'Story' I had cemented into my mind-set.  That being 'Not Good Enough', nor worthy of anyone's LOVE.  To compound things, we were actually living with my mom's sister and there were many Shakespearean worthy dynamics that were played out in sometimes horrific detail on a daily basis.  Without going into great detail (that's for another time), the entirety of the situation made for a perfect storm of strife and struggle that left me deeply scarred with wounds of the wicked kind!  

Fortunately, together with the school's psychology expert, we were able to find a solution to my daily jaunts back to 'Home Base'.  During the first half of each school day, I was actually put to work in the school's front office.  Doing everything from mail sorting, to filing paper work.  Yes, as a first grader, I was blessed with skill sets FAR beyond my biological age!  This helped keep my mind off of any dysfunctional thoughts and onto the tasks at hand!  (looking back, I should have asked for a raise dang it!!)  ;0)   

Unfortunately, the residual imprinting from my childhood experiences followed me like a thief for the next 30 years of my life.  Robbing me of healthy relationships, and causing me to repeat past patterns that kept me taking two steps forward, one step back in most of my chosen endeavors.  Deep in my SOUL, I know that while I don't feel responsible for any of the various physical manifestations I developed (Crohn's Dis-ease for instance), I understand that it didn't help my body to be out of spiritual alignment for so long.  How could it?  

After having the horrific experience of having my colon removed (thank god I no longer have to wear that colostomy bag), I felt a deep yearning to leave the Washington, D.C. area and head back to my birthplace of Los Angeles! And so that is exactly what I did.  And looking back, what a magical blessing that decision turned out to be.  For it was there that I started on a spiritual path of healing my body, mind, and SPIRIT!  Back then, the West Coast was a much more open minded space of all things metaphysical.  And I basked in its energy!  I started devouring books that had anything to do with spiritual growth, personal mind-sets, and metaphysical laws of the Universe.  I literally could not get enough.  My treasured bevy of books grew to over 300!  Many I re-read several times over to gain as much knowledge and wisdom from the Spiritual Masters that had gone before me.  I even enrolled in a Master's in Spiritual Psychology program at the University of Santa Monica.  

Slowly, I began to heal from my childhood traumas.  But holy moley, did it take a lot of commitment, dedication, and hard fought perseverance.  Bottom line, IT WAS NOT EASY! There were some days in which I felt I had left my demons in the dust.  Only to be triggered the next day and being flooded once again with feelings of 'Less Than' and 'Not Lovable'.  I learned that like anything else worth doing in life, the healing process takes time.  But it is OH SO WORTH IT!  If anyone requires a testimonial, give them my number.....   ;0) (Actually, email will do just fine!)  LOL

After a decade on the Left Coast, I retuned to my childhood home of Washington, D.C.  I felt a disturbance in the Force.  Like Luke Skywalker leaving his home planet of Tatooine, I felt like my time in LA had served its purpose and I was needed elsewhere.  And boy did Spirit send me in the right direction.  For during the next five years, my sister's son was diagnosed with Autism, and my father developed a deadly form of brain cancer.  And my being back at home allowed me to Be of Loving Service for both of them!  Not to mention the rest of our family.   What a blessing that was bestown upon me and my family!  There was NO other place I would have chosen to be.  I was able to assist in the development of my Godson who has since been able to overcome many of  the life challenges that come as a result of Autism and is now a bright shining Super Hero of his 11th grade class!  And I was able to care for my father (step dad but he is just POP to me) as he fought his cancer valiantly for well over a year.  I was able to hold his hand and look him square in his beautiful blue eyes as he took his very last breathe.  I even felt his soul entering back into the space of heavenly energy that  accompanies each of our eventual transition from our physical state.  

It was after his passing, that I committed myself to being a Spiritual Teacher and a Superhero's Coach for the masses.  I had known for over 20 years that my true CALLING was to be of service by assisting others in awakening into their true POWER.  And the remembrance that they have a Super Heroic Higher Self that is nothing less than a 'Miracle Making Machine!'  Because if there is one thing this World needs right now, IT IS MORE SUPERHEROES! Wouldn't you agree with me?  I had resisted the COSMIC CALL long enough. So this time, I picked up the soulful ringtone that I had put on hold time and time again!

But the Spiritual Secret Sauce to my own transformation toward awakening my Super Heroic Higher Self was in creating a NEW ORIGIN story for myself.  Through my dedication to self growth, I began to look at my entire life through a different filter. A brand new, more empowering perspective. Rather than feelings of abandonment, I shifted my mind-set toward one that allowed me to see my father's leaving as a gift.  Because I never would have met my new father had he stayed.  And Roger Lee Poston was the closest thing to a Superhero that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting!  He taught me how to live life from the perspective of Love and Service. Always and in all ways!  He showered me with heavy helpings of true non-judgement and compassion. Not to mention introducing me to everything Nerd Culture (Movies, comic books, videos games, pinball etc.) and sports!  I miss you dearly POPS!

I have been able to transcend any limiting beliefs or feelings of "NOT ENOUGH" into complete GRATITUDE for all my life's challenges.  For each of them taught me how to be a Wounded Healer.  And a Spiritual Teacher and coach.  I have learned how to transform my pain and fears into my ultimate POWER.  For both myself and others!!  As Carl Jung said, "The doctor is effective only when he himself is affected. Only the wounded physician heals."   

Jung believed that a malady of the soul could be the best possible form of training for a Healer. The pains and burdens one bears and eventually overcomes is the source of great wisdom and healing power for others.  And from my experience, I could not agree more!  
I like to say I have gone down the 'Buffet Line of Life.'  I have been able to taste a bevy of pretty much everything life has to offer in the form of challenges, trials, and tribulations.  And I feel like the luckiest man in the world to have had every one of these experiences.  Because they have made me both the man and teacher/coach that I have come to be! 

SUPERHEROES TRAINING TIPS:

1.  CREATE A NEW ORIGIN STORY

All Superheroes have an origin story.  From Superman losing his entire planet and having to face the fear of starting life over on foreign ground with out any of his family. To Batman watching as his mother and father were brutally murdered right before his eyes.  They were able to turn their tragedy into their greatest triumphs! Well guess what, YOU have an Origin Story too! And chances are it is NOT serving you in any way! Unfortunately, most of us Superheroes see our past as a curse rather than a blessing.  We carry our childhood traumas with us into our adult lives.  And usually from an energetic state of Victim Consciousness!   Reliving the same dysfunctional patterns time and time again.   With declarations such as Poor Me, Why Me, If only, I'm not good enough (Lord have I been THERE!), Self Loathing and Self Doubt, not to mention feelings of not deserving Love and Abundance in ALL its forms!  Sound like you?! If not, Fanfrickintastic!  Your Hero pin and t-shirt is in the mail!! ;0)  For the rest of you, there is work to be done! 

2.  START BY WRITING DOWN YOUR PERSONAL 'STORY' BUT FROM A NEW PERSPECTIVE. 

Start this process by FORGIVING YOURSELF for having these Past Thoughts Until You can Move Into a State of Self Love!


Literally start from your earliest memories and begin to write down the 'NEW Story of Your Life.'  But refrain from seeing these events from your past perspective. The stories we tell ourselves about our past become the coming attractions of what is still to come. And I really don't think you want THAT!

While writing, concentrate on just how the past painful experiences of your life have actually proven to be Blessings rather Curses.  Start learning to ACCEPT them rather than reliving them in your mind.  Acceptance frees you to transcend these story based thoughts and start to see them in a state of GRATITUDE!! (Just like the Gift and Miraculous Blessing of my father's abandonment)  In your writing, it is vital to transcend such limiting beliefs in a manner that you can actually now see your past challenges as nothing less than Gifts of service to yourself and others.  Start 'connecting the dots' of your life.  Look for the patterns that keep showing up. This will shine a light on the areas of trauma that still need healing!   If looked at through the lens of OPPORTUNITY,  the things you once thought as misfortune, were perfectly placed in you path to Propel You Forward!  If you are having great challenges doing this, stop and pray. Ask Spirit for guidance and Wisdom to see the Truth behind your pain! Then quiet your mind and listen.  You will be shown the answers. PROMISE!  

You've suffered enough!  It's time for transcendence and TRANSFORMATION!  By creating a New Origin Story, you can start living from a state of Christ Consciousness and NOT Victim Consciousness.  Because the past stories you have been programming your mind to believe, are powerful forms of RESISTANCE!  Resistance is the arch enemy of the Subconscious Mind; the powerhouse of our Abundance Making Machine! Is it any wonder that the exact same things keep popping up in your life year after year!  Well, it's a brand new year, and 'Times, They Are a Changin!'

Commit to using the remainder of this year to both create and live from your new state of Power! Because if you knew how POWERFUL you truly are, there is absolutely NOTHING you would be afraid of!! And dreaming BIG would be your new mantra.........  And So It Is!

The UNIVERSE Is ALWAYS Sending You Signs...But Are You LISTENING...?!

  

In the Summer of 2005, the real estate market in this country was on FIRE. Individuals were leaving their 'day jobs' to become buy and -quick flip- house hunters.  Especially in the 'City of Angels.  And I wanted in on all the action.  As did one of my best buds.  When the student is ready, the teacher will appear! And our real estate instructors were coming into Long Beach, CA for a two day seminar on the art of buying, fixing, and flipping houses for a ton of dough.  Heidi ho, heidi dough!   LOL!

My partner in crime and I made the hour long trek down to Long Beach one early Saturday morning. We had already digested a handful of books on the subject like two, true, New Age Nerds. We were waiting and ready to receive whatever SPIRIT had in store for us that weekend.  

The first day's seminar was broken up into two parts.  Both four hours in length.  The two of us were so busy jostling down notes in our real estate journals that we barely thought about food. But suddenly, a co-facilitator of the event walked on stage and announced it was time for our one hour lunch break.  The event planners broke the audience of hundreds up into groups of four.  They desired each group to act as a mini-mastermind. To spend the hour not only eating, but 'dreaming and scheming' with one another.  For where there are many, acting as ONE, the fruits will always be multiplied!  

Our fearsome foursome consisted of me and my buddy, as well as a dashing gentleman in his late 40's and an enigmatic woman of Middle Eastern descent approaching 60. (my guess) Small chat amongst us began in earnest as we walked across the street toward the culinary delight filled TGIF restaurant. LOL  

Given the crowd soon to come, we were fortunate enough to be seated quite quickly. Our preferred choices daringly decided, small talk resumed as we awaited our food. I chimed in to ask if everyone was open to sharing a quick story about themselves. A great ice breaker I thought!  And the team was more than obliged to take part.  

My friend and the gent now seated to his right, told stories about their family.  Both obviously married with kids. And then, our Middle Eastern friend slowly began to spin her tale. Through a thick accent, and a powerful essence, she had us hooked with the first word "well."  What followed was a story for 'All Ages!'  MIND BLOWING in substance and nature!

Her magnanimous story began nearly 40 years prior. When, as a 19 year old, she began to have fainting spells.  Apparently, she had fainted over a dozen separate times; many down the stairs, and even once while behind the wheel of her SUV.  Her doctors were completely flummoxed! They couldn't find one single thing wrong with her.  Despite the visitation of one specialist after another, she received nothing more than head scratching frustration. 

Until one morning, when she fainted while walking down her home's tall staircase and tumbled straight down into the basement!  Thankfully, her father happened to be home from work at the time and urgently rushed to her side.  She explained to us in great detail what occurred next.

She could feel her SOUL leave her body as she watched from above as her father tried his very best to arouse her!  She saw him crying with desperate tears.  "It's OK dad," she attempted to shout.  "I'm alright.  I'm right here!"  Before she could muster the strength to utter another word (on the 'other side', we speak through our emotions, but THAT is for another day)  she was suddenly whisked through time and space! She described it in great detail.  It reminded me of the scene in the Jodie Foster film Contact. (If you have yet to see this movie, place it high on your Netflix binge list) When Foster's character is placed in a pod built from extra terrestrial intelligence and sent cruising through the Cosmos; a vortex of vibrant lights bending into a matrix of delusionary images.  Spinning tunnels of SPIRIT filled abundance, wrapped in clouds of pure consciousness!  

And then, she espoused, everything came to a jarring stop!  What she uttered next still resides deep within my own inner being.  An energetic form, too beautiful to accurately describe, slowly approached her. And although the face of this sentient being never fully actualized, she fervently believes it was the essence of Jesus the Christ!  The closer in proximity this 'being' became, the more she described being bathed in UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.  A warm glow of UNADULTERATED JOY washed over her, she gushed.

Communication between the two radically began.  Resolute with each and every word, she said, "I was told that I would be returning, healthy and whole, to my human body.  And now had a MISSION to be fulfilled. I would be given an ability.  A special gift. The superpower to KNOW when someone was NOT following their own personal CALLING.  And it would be up to me to help them re-member."  We were all quickly jolted from our trancelike sensation, woven by this glorious gal, by the waiter delivering our tasty treats. 

Looking at the clock, we noticed our one hour lunch break was quickly coming to a close. So we scarfed down our food and began to divvy up the check.  My buddy had to use the rest room, so he hurriedly shot off away from the table.  And then, just as I was turning to walk toward the establishments door, this Wisdom Warrior softly tugged on my shirt. In her thick Middle Eastern accent, she softly uttered, "Jeff, will you stay back with me for a bit?"  

"Absolutely," I said.  And the next five minutes changed the course of my life FOREVER!

She moved in very close to my 'personal space.'  And then looked me dead in the eyes before explaining, "Jeff, you KNOW why you are here, don't you?"  

"Of course I do!  To learn to buy some real estate and gobble down some of TGIF's finest vittles," I chuckled.  

She remained super stoic. "No. You know why you are here on Earth?" she questioned.  "Jeff, you are here to be a great spiritual teacher.  To help change the world.  And I know you understand this.  But why do you not do, what you came here to do?" she said with great intent. Tears began to flow down my cheeks. It was hard for me to maintain eye contact. She was telling the truth!  And I did know it.  I had since I was 17 years young.  Yet, 20 years later, I was still dabbling and circling my CALLING.  Never committing to it.  "I still don't feel ready," I told her.  

"You are more ready than you allow yourself to believe," was her sage advice.  

She grabbed both of my hands with a soft caress.  Touched my chin, and gently lifted up my face so that our eyes could connect.  "There are not hundreds, not thousands, but millions of people that you are here to assist.  And even some unique individuals who will require your spiritual support. So you must follow this path.  The world is waiting for you.  I am here to share this remembrance with you. But it is you who must keep your promise."

My tears became something more akin to leaky faucets. It struck me as so truthful. I felt this prickly feeling that grew into BLISS.  It felt as though my own SOUL was 'Jumping for JOY.'  "Right on, Jeff!  I'm here, for you, and as you, for us all,"  I garnered from this inner, yet otherworldly sensation!  

I hugged her tight and she wouldn't let me go.  At least not before whispering into my ear, "Keep your promise."  Our embrace came to its close and I spent a few minutes trying to compose myself. Looking at the clock, I was already five minutes late to the second half of that day's seminar.  I dashed back across the street and took my seat alongside my good friend.  At the close of that day's event, I searched and searched, but could not find this Super Soul Saver, anywhere.  In fact, I NEVER SAW HER AGAIN!


SUPERHEROES IN TRAINING TAKEAWAYS

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have heard the utterance, "I wish life came with a guidebook!"  Well, it actually does!  We are often just too distracted to actually receive it. 
The Universe is constantly communicating directly with you. Sometimes it is quite subtle in nature. It may whisper its messages through the next song on your Alexa playlist. Or the children's television show you have watched for the 100th time. Yet during the 101st replay, you are relaxed and fully present. And, BOOM, it jumps out at you. Just what you needed to hear!  It was always there! (slap to the forehead)  

Remember Dorthy, from the Wizard of Oz. Her lesson is OURS!   That's why that film will continue to transcend its place in time forever!  Her 'super powers,' along with all the answers she was searching for were right there with her; the entire time.  She just needed to be remembered of them. That's what we are all doing here my dearly beloved New Age Nerds! Assisting one another in remembering 'Who We Really Are.'  

Haven't you ever wondered why this extraordinary planet is filled with so many amazing creatures?  Yes, its partly because all of nature is where the garden of 'Awe and Astonishment' is nurtured.  But it is also because it gives the Universe the most unimaginably wondrous ways through which to communicate with us!  As when a recently passed member of your tribe promises to communicate with you once 'on the other side.'
And the love of birds or butterflies that you both shared is the very sign that begins to show up on a regular basis!  

As for me personally, I wouldn't have it any other way!  Forget the guidebooks.  Give me the serenity of season's change. The sense of emotionally charged power and ONENESS that imbues my heart and soul when synchronicity graces me with its magic! The wonder of NOT KNOWING, until suddenly, YOU DO!  All because someone carried a seed meant to be ever so gently caressed and then planted within the unique emanation of the ONE GOD MIND.  

Once the few begin to commit to awakening the many, our current opioid epidemic will be vanquished back to the land of the lost.  Because once you taste the sweet nectar from the chalice of your Super Heroic Higher Self, the high from any foreign substance will feel emotionally barren. I promise!  ;0)

So I think it's time for all of us to make a commitment to ourselves and others. I pledge allegiance, to the flag......ummm  no no no.  Wrong pledge!  LOL!

Seriously, what would it feel like to commit to becoming a fully self actualized Soul on this planet. Declaring to the Universe that you are ready, willing, and waiting!  You won't even have to do all the heavy lifting.  Because in leaving all the 'HOW's' to the Universe, you will be free to see with fresh eyes; listen with eager ears. For all the magical manners in which the Grand Creator herself will impress upon you the soft signs, intuitive hunches, and in your face wallops of wisdom from many corners of your daily experiences! Leading you to all your own answers. And blessing you with the directions and plans to fulfill your personal CALLING. And then never ending abundance in all its forms suddenly floods your daily experience; all for you to share these gifts in loving service with the world.  Sound groovy?!  It sure does to me!

MODERN MYTH MESSAGES: DYING TO BE ME....!

 

In 2002, Anita Moorjani, born of Hindu descent was diagnosed with cancer.  For the following 4 years, her body valiantly fought this insidious disease that was slowly shutting down her bodily organs one by one.  Until February 2, 2006, the day “I died.” Although in a coma, I was acutely aware of everything that was happening around me, including the sense of of urgency and emotional frenzy of my family as they rushed me to the hospital.  When we arrived, the moment the oncologist saw me, her face filled with shock.  “Your wife's heart may still be beating,” she told my husband Danny, “but she's not really in there.  It's too late to save her.”

By Anita's account in her transcendent personal memoir ‘Dying To Be Me’, although she was in a complete coma, she was able to hear and see everything that was happening around her body.  She was having an NDE. (Near Death Experience)  But unlike many of the other narratives I have consumed on this phenomenon, this one was less grandiose and usurped any sense of the traditional tropes usually found in such accountings. There are no ‘white lights’ or personal meetings with Messianic energies.  In place of these experiences, Moorjani's retelling of her NDE is filled with remembrance and HOPE.  And an incredibly powerful message for those of us still finding our way on this remarkable Journey called life!

“Know I have said it before, but it bears repeating: I now live my life from JOY instead of FEAR.  This is the one simple difference between who I was before my NDE and who I am today.    Before, without even realizing it, everything I did was to avoid pain or to please other people.  I was caught up in doing, pursuing,searching, and achieving; and I was the last person I ever took into consideration.  My life was driven by FEAR- of displeasing others, of failing, of being selfish, and of not being good enough.  In my own head, I always fell short,” recalls Moorjani.  

I don't know about you, but I can relate in many ways to her recollection of her life before her NDE.  And I have MORE than a intuitive feeling that many of you reading this even share many of her exact thoughts and feelings right NOW!  And as I have stated oh so often in many of my previous posts, everything that happens in our experience is for our greater good.  And I do mean everything!  Nothing is ever wasted in this Universe.  Because everything is made up of pure and perfect energy and we are all a part of this ONENESS.  As Albert Einstein said, “The only thing you have to decide is whether we live in a compassionate Universe.”  The rest is just pure folly!! As Anita found out during her near death journey!

“My heightened awareness in that expanded realm was indescribable, despite my best efforts to explain it.  The clarity was amazing.  The Universe makes sense!  I realized.  I finally understand-I know why I have cancer!  I was too caught up in in the wonder of that moment to dwell on the cause, although I would soon examine it more closely.  I also seemed to comprehend why I'd come into this life in the first place-  I knew my true purpose.  Why do I suddenly understand all this,?  I wanted to know.  Who is giving me this information? is it God? Krishna? Buddha? Jesus? And then I was overwhelmed by the realization that God isn't a BEING, but a state of being....  and I was now that state of being!  Every single encounter was woven together to create the fabric that was the sum of my life up to this point.   I may only have been one thread, yet I was an integral part to the overall finished picture.”

And GUESS WHAT, so are each and every one of you! You are all a perfectly crafted concoction that encompasses all the beauty in the Universe.  And you DESERVE to be loved, cherished and adored beyond any measure previously fathomable simply because you exist.  Because we are all connected at every level, your every action has an effect on both YOU as well as the collective whole.  And it is this very remembrance that Anita Moorjani brought back with her to share with the world during her Heroine's Journey during her NDE!

“I became aware that we are all connected.  This was not only every person and living creature, but the interwoven unification felt as though it were expanding outward to include everything in the universe.  I realized that the entire universe is alive and infused with consciousness, encompassing all life and nature.  We're all facets of that UNITY-we're all ONE......” writes Moorjani.  

“I also understood that the cancer was not some punishment for anything I had done wrong, nor was I experiencing negative karma as a result of any of my actions, as I'd previously believed.  It was as though every moment held infinite possibilities, and where I was at this point in time was a culmination of every decision, every choice, and every thought of my entire life.  My many fears and great power had manifested as this disease.”

Moorjani's book is so full of such subtle insight and beautiful prose that I won't spoil any more of her Journey for those of you who may be interested in buying a copy for yourself.  I think you will be incredibly glad if you choose to do so!!  

So I ask you- are you living life or slowly ‘Dying to BE.’ Because there is simply no reason to do that.  We must simply BE STILL and search our thoughts and feelings for the answers to our greatest dilemmas and for the reason we came.  Please stop wasting the time of your BEINGNESS.  It is the most precious gift we have and must not be wasted or it will be worn into the shards of time.

As Moorjani espouses, “I believe that the greatest truths of the Universe don't lie outside, in the study of the stars and the planets.  They lie deep within us, in the magnificence of our heart, mind, and soul.  Until we understand what is within, we can't understand what is without.”
