LIFE IS NOT A TEST!!

One late night back in 1997,  when I was in the hospital for the third straight month with major complications from a colostomy surgery due to Crohn's dis-ease, a priest walked by my darkened room.  I turned my head and my sullen eyes connected with his softened glaze. He had been making rounds into my room for weeks, during which time we had built up a mutual bond of confidence and serenity.  He asked me if it was ok to enter my room.  I softly shook my head yes and he slowly walked toward me. He brought out his bible and laid it out on the tustled sheets of my bed.  He asked me if it was ok for us to have a serious talk.  In too much pain to worry about what he may say, I said, “Of course, Father.”

He sat pensive for a moment, as though he was asking Spirit for the words to share with me.  He then grabbed my right hand and lightly squeezed it.  What he said next still informs my Purposeful Calling and paradigm for many of life's challenges to this day.  Leaning in close, he softly uttered, “Jeff, I don't know why certain people are meant to suffer.  And I have seen you suffer more than most.  What I can tell you, is that God is testing you my son.”  

While I certainly appreciated his attempt to offer me his LOVE, support, and kindness, his words just DID NOT ring true for me.  After he read some passages from the bible and blessed me, Father left to visit other patients.  And I spent the next few hours, prior to the sun's rising, pondering on the words he had whispered.  I knew that if I had a child, there is NO conceivable way I would put them through the many years of torturous suffering I had endured as a way of “testing” them. In fact, it almost made me angry.  

The next few days were incredibly daunting.  My mind kept pondering that night's engagement with Father.  I knew that his intention was absolutely ensconced with pure LOVE, but facing the endurance test of a several year battle for your own life causes one to go deeper.  There is NO meaning left in simply “punching in and punching out” with life's daily time card.  

About a week later, after my mid afternoon meal (though an IV bag of course.. Yummy!!LOL), a young boy about 8 years old passed by my room.  His parents close in tow.  They peered in, and the young lad asked me if I would like to challenge him to a race.  He was fraught, skinnier than a fritter on a frying pan, pale as Casper the ghost, and completely bald.  Although hooked up to an IV machine, he carried it with such grace, as if it were Harry Potter's magical staff.  

I felt like HELL and was in an enormous amount of pain. However, the courage and strength that this young SUPERHERO radiated, imbued me instantly with the gumption to hop out of bed and walk toward him.  His parents profusely apologized for their son having disturbed me. I assured them it was no bother what so ever.  I slowly bent down and asked him his name.  “Peter,” he said.  “And I know I can beat you in a race down the hallway!”  Never one to back down from a challenge, even from an 8 year old, I excitedly said,  “ You bet!  We are both going to need to get our strength back  for when we get out of the hospital. ”  

At which point, his mother touched me on the shoulder, and slowly shook her head NO as a small tear strolled down her face.  I knew exactly what she meant.  Peter was not going to be going home.  He was obviously dying from cancer.  It took every ounce of conviction I had to keep from breaking down right then and there. I took a few deep breaths of composure and addressed Peter again.

“Ok, Peter, you're on.  Let's race down to the edge of the nurse's check in office.  Whoever gets there first shall forever be known as the Race Champion King of George Washington Hospital!”  Peter's parents began a countdown and then we were off to the races.  I began with a quick burst, and then slowed down to let Peter catch up to me. And eventually let him beat me by a couple of feet.  I have witnessed kids on Christmas morning who were not nearly as thrilled as Peter was in that moment of BLISS.   He began spinning and dancing, and waving his arms in the air.  And then,  Spirit created an opening of KNOWINGNESS that stays imprinted within my Soul to this very day.  

LIFE IS NOT A TEST

God wasn't TESTING me all those months in the hospital.  He was showering my soul with the exact experiences I needed to learn how to be a Wounded Healer!  And the Universe has continued to bring such experiences into my life.  And although they have been beyond brutal at times, I BLESS THEM ALL!!  I wouldn't be half the teacher and coach were it not for every single experience that has been brought upon me!  Thank You Spirit! Perhaps next time our dances can provide less opportunities for stepping one one another's toes.   ;o)

We aren't made to suffer in vein and be utterly challenged because God is trying to TEST us. We are perfect emanations of the Divine Spirit HerSelf!  We have absolutely nothing to prove. And I do not believe that God has one judgmental aspect to his BEING!  All of life is a grand set of Blissful OPPORTUNITIES.  As Napoleon Hill said, "Your biggest opportunity stands exactly where you stand right NOW.”  For instance, perhaps the greatest thrill of my life that far was the OPPORTUNITY of letting little Peter experience the feeling of winning our race that day nearly 25 years ago!   Without our pain, suffering, and challenges, we would not have so many of the opportunities that carry with them the majestical miracles that life has to offer. Nor would our Souls be seared and stamped with the empathy and compassion that eventually assists every single one of us. For we all are indeed SUPERHEROES! And our collective purpose is to be of loving service! Can you fathom a better manner to learn the instrumental qualities to be a spiritual servant to one another?!    
For the most attuned of us on this planet come to see the beauty even in their deepest pain.
As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “ Never lose the opportunity of seeing something beautiful, for beauty is God's handwriting.”

LIFE IS NOT A TEST

Please do not misunderstand me! I am not trying to condone or make light of the plethora of tragedy, loss, pain, and suffering we all endure at various points in our lives.  Life can be BRUTAL.  Even soul crushing at times.  We often lose our faith in any form of a higher power.  But rather than looking at them as TESTS, what would it look like for us to transcend our challenges as opportunities for MIRACLES to surround and support us.  And for US to BE THOSE MIRACLES for others. In the form of love, compassion, kindness, generosity of spirit, and understanding.  THAT is why we are here and without these OPPORTUNITIES,  we would not be able to experience the glorious feelings they afford us.  Nor gather the qualities to be a Super Heroic Servant!

LIFE IS NOT A TEST

Everyone will be challenged and endure times of struggle and strife on their unique SUPERHERO's Journey.  But the Universe wastes absolutely NOTHING!  Everything you experience is happening THROUGH YOU and FOR YOU, not TO YOU!!  Big difference!

Thinking things happen TO YOU is a mindset of Victim Consciousness.  And You Are Not a Victim! PERIOD and Mic Drop!!  And re-member that we are built for pain.  In fact, you will never find a better teacher than the Pain Professor.  It would serve you well to let Pain in, rather than resisting it.  Allow it to stay until you have learned what it came to teach.  For those lessons will prove to be the most valuable on your SUPERHERO's Journey!  

LIFE IS NOT A TEST

There is no such thing as FAILURE! (Unless you never try!)  Failure is simply Constructive Feedback from the Universe! It is always instructional in nature.  These are opportunities to grow and learn from.  The Universe does not work on a Pass/Fail basis!    Unlike the game of baseball, you get as many swings as you desire!  The Universe will give you Do Over after Do Over, but NOT to test you.  Please believe that 'Life is Rigged Completely In Your Favor!'  The Universe sent you here for a reason.  And it supports you in your Mission Possible!!  Do Overs are just the Universe's way of allowing you to get the lesson and wisdom you need to complete the next step on your SUPERHERO's Journey!  Ask and it shall be given, for the power and glory are all yours!  You are Never alone on your quest.  In fact, if you knew who walks beside you at all times, you would never feel FEAR induced stagnation ever again.........

It's not as if God cast you out of Heaven and then makes you pass a series of TESTS to 'Get Back In.'  We are Divine creations, perfect in every way.  Each of us is priceless.  Never devalue your sense of SELF!  In doing so you are insulting God HerSELF!   

Our collective MISSION has been Divinely Devised.  You each have a unique CALLING.  And it can only be fulfilled BY YOU !! The byproduct of its completion is nothing less than the rapture of a gateway towards Beams of Bliss flowing into our Collective Consciousness.  Expanding and infusing the energetic radiance of LOVE AND LIGHT, Peace and Wisdom, Compassion and Kindness back into the World!  And the stout KNOWINGNESS that as you spread these gifts of Blissful Boosts to others, so will this BLISS be brought back unto you!  For that which you do for others, you do for yourself!  The illusion of Separation will dissolve into nothingness.  Forevermore, You and I, will BE ONE!!

You cannot SUFFER without the redemptive power of compassion that it brings in its painful wake. 

Even Jesus the Christ brought his closest followers to the Garden of Gathsemane. So that they could see him suffer in mental anguish before the eyes of his/our FATHER and question his own path. He desired only that his disciples understand that true humility comes from questioning your own heart and soul. He deeply desired his brothers and sisters understand that although they may fall, FAILURE is never an option. One of his last teachings was to FEAR NOT, FOR ALL IS WELL. For "failure is simply feedback." And each time you garner the courage to simply try, shall ye be truly fed by ME! 

So make every swing count........
Ask as though it was already yours....
Dream Big and think even bigger..
Re-member it is already yours even before you asked.....
Know that Miracles are Dreams already dreamt into Being.....
Always wait until your present is fully unwrapped before understanding what it is....

Then close your eyes and take a deep breathe!  And then Let It All Go!  Learn to RELAX!!  Always do your best, because your best will ALWAYS DO!  After all,  LIFE IS NOT A TEST.........

THE 2020 New Age Nerd MANIFESTO...!!

A New Age Nerd knows we are all Spiritual beings having a Human experience. And that we came into this grand experience with TWO minds. ONE, is called the conscious mind and is indeed sacred. However, the second is called the SUBCONSCIOUS MIND and it is our direct connection back to SPIRIT! It is the shared Universal powerhouse of limitless energy and infinite intelligence. It may be called upon at any time in order for us to literally "Bend Reality" to our very preference!

He acknowledges the true power of his words, and thus chooses them with care, intention, and kindness.

A New Age Nerd strives to "practice what they preach,"  for they know that a spiritual vocabulary without action becomes No Thing more than Spiritual Entertainment.

She has the deep understanding that the Universe has NO boundaries and is constantly expanding. Thus she knows that her Spirit is LIMITLESS!

He knows SEPARATION is an illusion.. and that " WE ARE ALL ONE."

A New Age Nerd does not confuse kindness...  With weakness   EVER!

He understands that every soul has a CALLING.. A Unique Mission that only YOU can fulfill in order to help save this World!  And so your were given a set of SUPER POWERS. Use them wisely and with love and kindness!

She accepts the ONE thing she has full control over is who she associates with ..  As it will be the greatest determining factor of her happiness and success. So she picks her TRIBE with a WICKED WISDOM.

The opinions of others have little effect on a New Age Nerd, for they know they only have to PROVE things to themselves.

A New Age Nerd understands the difference between Success and SIGNIFICANCE.  So they are always looking to bring more value into the world.

He believes the greatest gift we have been given is the PRESENT. 

So Her favorite motto is "BE HERE NOW."

She is a ‘SOULdier’ for LOVE.  A fierce Connoisseur of Consciousness.  A Ravishing Rock Star of Spirit.  And a Steward of Remembrance.  So she reminds others they are too.

A New Age Nerd understands they may be the only bible/torah/koran that someone will ever read.  Thus they hold each and every Co-creation as uniquely SACRED.

He strives to be worthy of his sufferings.  For his definition of a "Sin" is to suffer without meaning.  

She takes RESPONSIBILITY for her actions.  No complaining, no explaining.

A New Age Nerd commits daily to become ‘The Greatest Version of The Grandest Vision" ever held of themselves.  In this way, they worry not about being better than others, but rather BEING better than they used to be.

She knows surrendering is the highest form of ALLOWANCE.  So she surrenders her Spirit to the Universe often, as not to block the Abundance always waiting for her highest good.

A New Age Nerd has a fervent FAITH that everything and anything other than LOVE, is simply an ILLUSION.

MARTIN LUTHER KING's Preachings.. Our Finest GUIDEPOSTS Toward LOVE..!

A few years ago I attended a funeral of a still fairly young man, who had suffered for the majority of his shortened life with a disease that completely ravishes a Spirit's earthly body with the type of pain that most of us cannot even begin to truly fathom.  The illness is called HEMOPHILIA.  Essentially, those affected with it have bodies that cannot form blood clotting on their own.  And the list of horrifying side effects this insidious malady puts on the body are everything from EXTREME arthritis to the point where eventually most of those affected eventually become wheelchair bound, not including extreme bruising and bleeding under the skin simply through a thoughtful touch.  Just unimaginable suffering!!

However, this completely COURAGEOUS individual requested of his relatives that he NOT have a traditional funeral ceremony.  No, what he desired was to have his most cherished friends and life long companions to get up and tell funny or insightful stories about HIS STORY!!    

And so on the day of his funeral, those of us in the procession were gifted to a myriad of absolutely hilarious, personal, intimate, and meaningful tales that truly fleshed out who he was and more importantly, HOW HE CHOSE TO LIVE!!  While he did not live a long life, he lived a life full of Soulful SIGNIFICANCE!!  And my Fellow New Age Nerds, that is an everlasting message to all of us about the manner in which we are to spend our precious time on this precious Earth.......

But what EXACTLY does that mean; a life of SIGNIFICANCE?!?!  Like SUCCESS, it can mean a lot of different things to different people.  And that is completely OK!!  However, I would like to take the time to flesh out what it means to me........

Our world, especially here in the UNITED STATES, has slowly become a breeding ground for those who live to work, rather than WORK TO LIVE!  Gi-normous difference!  And as wonderful as some of the technological advances that have become such an intricate part of our life experience may be, they have also taken a strangle hold over what precious free time that we used to have in such abundance.  Let's be honest, most of us are never REALLY disconnected from work.  And how can we be when our bosses know they can text, IM, Facebook message, or reach us through a pure cell phone call wherever we are in the World?!?  Back when I first started my career (when we still had to ride to work on horseback...LOL) the moment we left our desks for the day, we were done, through, capooey,  adios amigo, until 9:00 the next workday!  Those were truly magical times before home computers and cell phones even existed................

You see that very freedom allowed me and my fellow GEEKS to still have time each night to get together for a game of touch football, or play a quick game of Dungeons and Dragons. (HEY, why do you think one of the reasons this blog is called THE NEW AGE NERD!!  Get it, got it,  good!!  ;0)  

It was a time when our parents could still get home from work in time to either cheer from the stands or actually coach our soccer, baseball, basketball, or football teams!  Although I'm sure my step-dad(although the ONLY Dad I ever knew) may have tried to reign my mom in a little ( they were co-coaches of my baseball teams) as she had a rule that anyone who hit a home run would get a free hotdog!!  Needlessly to say, when any of my fellow teammates would even hit a ball more than 10 feet they wouldn't stop running the bases until they were either thrown out or rounded the bases to collect on their promised Nathan's Ballpark with extra mustard!!   LOL  Oh, those were truly the times of my life!!  Why, BECAUSE THEY WERE TRULY SIGNIFICANT!!  

And unfortunately, I am currently witnessing such magical moments becoming relics of a past that always left an indelible imprint on my own Soul!   Because when we take our very last breathe on this planet, there will be a plethora of things that we will ALL be remembered for!!  And I personally feel that right now, we are spending way too much energy headed in a direction that in NO way encompasses the true meaning of WHY WE ARE HERE and what we will be remembered for! Our SIGNIFICANCE!!!

One of my greatest SUPERHEROES is Martin Luther King, Jr. who wrote, in my opinion, one of the greatest speeches of all time called 'The Drum Major Instinct.'   As we all know, the God given talent he had for using parables as a way of teaching his message were unmatched and very evident in this speech that still sends chills up my spine every time I hear or read it!  It truly speaks to the topic of living a life of SIGNIFICANCE and LOVE.....  Here is just a tiny excerpt that I hope INSPIRES all who read it......

But now the problem is, it is the drum major instinct. And you know, you see people over and over again with the drum major instinct taking them over. And they just live their lives trying to outdo the Joneses. (Amen) They got to get this coat because this particular coat is a little better and a little better-looking than Mary’s coat. And I got to drive this car because it’s something about this car that makes my car a little better than my neighbor’s car. (Amen) I know a man who used to live in a thirty-five-thousand-dollar house. And other people started building thirty-five-thousand-dollar houses, so he built a seventy-five-thousand-dollar house. And then somebody else built a seventy-five-thousand-dollar house, and he built a hundred-thousand-dollar house. And I don’t know where he’s going to end up if he’s going to live his life trying to keep up with the Joneses. LOL

There comes a time that the drum major instinct can become destructive. (Make it plain) And that’s where I want to move now. I want to move to the point of saying that if this instinct is not harnessed, it becomes a very dangerous, pernicious instinct. For instance, if it isn’t harnessed, it causes one’s personality to become distorted. I guess that’s the most damaging aspect of it: what it does to the personality. If it isn’t harnessed, you will end up day in and day out trying to deal with your ego problem by boasting. Have you ever heard people that—you know, and I’m sure you’ve met them—that really become sickening because they just sit up all the time talking about themselves. (Amen) And they just boast and boast and boast, and that’s the person who has not harnessed the drum major instinct.

And then it does other things to the personality. It causes you to lie about who you know sometimes. (Amen, Make it plain) There are some people who are influence peddlers. And in their attempt to deal with the drum major instinct, they have to try to identify with the so-called big-name people. (Yeah, Make it plain) And if you’re not careful, they will make you think they know somebody that they don’t really know. (Amen) They know them well, they sip tea with them, and they this-and-that. That happens to people.

And the other thing is that it causes one to engage ultimately in activities that are merely used to get attention. Criminologists tell us that some people are driven to crime because of this drum major instinct. They don’t feel that they are getting enough attention through the normal channels of social behavior, and so they turn to anti-social behavior in order to get attention, in order to feel important. (Yeah) And so they get that gun, and before they know it they robbed a bank in a quest for recognition, in a quest for importance.

And then the final great tragedy of the distorted personality is the fact that when one fails to harness this instinct, (Glory to God) he ends up trying to push others down in order to push himself up. (Amen) And whenever you do that, you engage in some of the most vicious activities. You will spread evil, vicious, lying gossip on people, because you are trying to pull them down in order to push yourself up. (Make it plain) And the great issue of life is to harness the drum major instinct.

But let me rush on to my conclusion, because I want you to see what Jesus was really saying. What was the answer that Jesus gave these men? It’s very interesting. One would have thought that Jesus would have condemned them. One would have thought that Jesus would have said, “You are out of your place. You are selfish. Why would you raise such a question?”

But that isn’t what Jesus did; he did something altogether different. He said in substance, “Oh, I see, you want to be first. You want to be great. You want to be important. You want to be significant. Well, you ought to be. If you’re going to be my disciple, you must be.” But he reordered priorities. And he said, “Yes, don’t give up this instinct. It’s a good instinct if you use it right. (Yes) It’s a good instinct if you don’t distort it and pervert it. Don’t give it up. Keep feeling the need for being important. Keep feeling the need for being first. But I want you to be first in love. (Amen) I want you to be first in moral excellence. I want you to be first in generosity. That is what I want you to do.”

And he transformed the situation by giving a new definition of greatness. And you know how he said it? He said, “Now brethren, I can’t give you greatness. And really, I can’t make you first.” This is what Jesus said to James and John. “You must earn it. True greatness comes not by favoritism, but by fitness. And the right hand and the left are not mine to give, they belong to those who are prepared.” (Amen)

And so Jesus gave us a new norm of greatness. If you want to be important—wonderful. If you want to be recognized—wonderful. If you want to be great—wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. (Amen) That’s a new definition of greatness.

And this morning, the thing that I like about it: by giving that definition of greatness, it means that everybody can be great, (Everybody) because everybody can serve. (Amen) You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. (All right) You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve. You don’t have to know about Plato and Aristotle to serve. You don’t have to know Einstein’s theory of relativity to serve. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. (Amen) You only need a heart full of grace, (Yes, sir, Amen) a soul generated by love. (Yes) And you can be that servant............

And a precious two days later, Martin Luther King, Jr. was murdered in cold blood.  Yet I truly believe he had lived his CALLING and spread the Gospel he came here to deliver!!

Now, I know many of you have variant ideas regarding organized religion, and I respect that more than you could ever know!   And I am NOT asking you to have your own personal beliefs regarding anything mentioned in this speech to be challenged or changed.  For that has nothing to do with why I included it in this post.  No, I used certain excerpts today to simply challenge your own perceptions about what SIGNIFICANCE and GREATNESS means to YOU?!? 

Because my compadres, I am hearing from too many friends, and relatives, and coaching clients,  all with a common thread of current emotional discord regarding sympathetic connection.  They feel as though their actions are not being met with a sense of Soulful Significance!  Many of them are trying their damned best to usurp what little time they have been given to reach out to others who are sick, alone, living in extreme lack, or spiritual silence.  And while they are doing it to express their own level of care and concern, they are being met back with a complete lack of GRATITUDE and  Reciprocity!  And while I don't wish to mix my messages, the intent with what I wish to express is that SIGNIFICANCE IS MOST POWERFUL WHEN IT IS A TWO WAY STREET!  For what we share, SPIRIT circulates in the form of LOVE AND CARE!!  For as Martin Luther King, Jr. tells us, we can ALL be Great and Important!  But in order to be SIGNIFICANT in the eyes of this great UNIVERSE, we must be a servant for ONE ANOTHER!!  

Right now, we are all too often building walls of isolation to protect us from the painful expressions that manifest with the lack of mutual care and compassion we are showing one another.  And, yes, to rise above the actions of THE OTHER is a spiritual practice that would serve all of us. But would it not be more loving and SIGNIFICANT for us to be able to forgo such soulful tasks, especially in our times of emotional, physical, and spiritual needs; if we rose above our own EGOIC necessities to Re-member those who have stood before US in our own time of need to let them know that we share our hearts in KINDNESS AND GRATITUDE as servants of LOVE!!  Because if there is ONE THING this world could use it is more LOVE!    

As a SUPERHERO's TIP, here are a few things that may assist you in sharing your precious free time and transform it into a form of SIGNIFICANCE that has the ability to truly change the world:

1- Success adds value to oneself.  Significance adds value to others.


A perfect example of this is my friend Jennifer Ohlson.  We met in college where she was awarded a full sports scholarship.   Here is just a sampling of some of her extraordinary personal achievements:
~~  Most lettered athlete in Colorado sports history
~~  USA Today Colorado Athlete of the Year
~~  ECAC Heptathlon Champion her senior year


The list goes on, but she has turned her MASSIVE personal success into a thriving business called Interactive Health Technologies!  She and her team have created a cloud based technology program to revolutionize the physical education system.   IHT is "dedicated to helping unlock the full potential inside every individual, empowering them from kindergarten through graduation day to take personal responsibility for their health and well-being."  Jen literally took her greatest passion and personal success, and has turned it into something that is adding TREMENDOUS value to the WORLD!  GO Jen!

2-  Success has limited influence. Significance has UNLIMITED influence. 
"When you influence a child, you influence a life.  When you influence a father, you influence a family.  When you influence a  leader, you influence ALL who turn to him/her for leadership."

3-  Turning Success into Significance is one of the best ways to find our CALLING.
I think we have all experienced the fleeting feeling that various success brings into our life.  But to go beyond ourself, and meld what our true talents to the world may be, with a burning desire to be of service to others, creates a gateway into our personal calling. 

4-  Pursuing success only brings joy to but a few, but pursuing significance brings joy to many.  And isn't that what the Hero's Journey, at its core, is truly all about.  Bringing back the knowledge we have learned on our personal quest of challenges, to be of service to others who are still attempting to get through theirs?!  As Martin Luther King Jr. often espoused, “Life's most persistent and urgent question is: What are we doing for others?”

So I would like to remind each and every one of you, in what ways can you be a servant in your own lives? Especially to those who have always been a servant of care and compassion in your own life.  Not because we need to feel that our actions mattered, but because GRATITUDE is the greatest THANK YOU NOTE we could ever send to one another! Because, the hard cold truth is that one day, the Spirits who cared for us the most will no longer be there! And wouldn't it be more than worthwhile to be one of the individuals that was able to stand up at their own funeral procession and have stories to share?!  Stories that are truly SIGNIFICANT?!?

INCORPORATE The Super Power of FEROCITY Into Your Life...!!

Believe it or not, we are already 18 days into the New Year!  And for many of you New Age Nerds, that means another opportunity to mirror nature's magical rebirthing process. With the New Year now firmly upon us, it is time to create some new, magic filled Super Heroic Mindsets to assist us in re-designing the life of our dreams! A life reborn from the hard fought and not so easily earned lessons the previous year blessed us with! 

So to assist those of you who are truly willing to commit toward new habits that will empower you toward behaviors that 'get things done,' I would like to introduce you to one of my favorite manifestation tools. It's called the Super Heroic Habit of FEROCITY! And when incorporated into your daily routine, I promise you it will become a powerfully potent agent that will change your life. I know that's quite a huge declaration! And you're right. So buyer beware; like anything else that changes the quality of your life experiences, it must be used with great effort, care and consistency. Capiche?! So absolutely NO refunds on this one....  ;0)

Before I further flesh out the specifics of this Heroic Habit, I would first like to dispel a much misunderstood tenet of spiritual transformation/self actualization work. I often come across patrons in the personal self help world who espouse that you are "out of alignment" and/or in a state of "unease" if you make plans and goals and strive toward them with great fervor. They will say that all one must do is "be in the flow" of life and let the Universe take care of the rest. Simply ask, and you shall receive. As if taking action is actually an insult to the Universe. Yet, more often than not, it is this same group that always seems to be in a constant state of lack. And the closer you investigate, there is usually very little they have actually accomplished in their own life. No judgment, but I believe there is a middle ground here to explore that will bring more sound understanding to the nature of our reality. 

First and foremost, I think it is quite beneficial to create a mindset that does not sit in a state of absolutes. Life is NOT all black and whites. There are a cacophony of colors in the fabric scheme of the illusionary veil we use to manifest our desires.  The richest mindsets are in allowance of incorporating BOTH, not just "either/or" into their personal paradigms. As in, one can be BOTH "at ease" with the natural energetic flow of the Universe, AND at the same time be passionately determined with massive action toward their chosen endeavors/goals/desires! In fact, I would like to take it one step further and state that it is essential for us to engage life with a gregarious gusto. Meaning making plans, routines, action steps, and goals as part of our way of being true co-creators with the Divine Source! Personally, I believe the Universe acknowledges and appreciates the bold, the doers, and the decisive. Plus, as Helen Keller said, "Life is either a great adventure, or nothing at all." Well, how in the hell can one have a great adventure without stepping off of the sidelines and putting yourSELF smack dab in the middle of all the action?! And setting ourSELVES up for success by creating a playbook for our own life and the fulfillment of our own unique CALLINGS!

Plus, our collective mission is to grow, learn, and evolve into the grandest version of ourSELVES. And that type of massive expansion occurs most effectively through "playing in the game." And the bigger we choose to play, the more we explode into bliss filled bursts of energetic potentiality. The very aspect of cosmic causality that the Universe sent us here to manifest for its own ascension into more conscious LOVE! 

I believe in a form of spirituality that is DEEP, but SIMPLE! 

And so my own personal paradigm for manifestation consists of just two parts:

1. THE CREATING

2. THE COLLECTING 

The creating aspect is done specifically through the sub-conscious mind. The space within us that houses the divine spark of Universal Source energy that connects us all to the ONE GOD MIND. It creates our reality though the manipulation of energy beyond time and space based on our thoughts (the imagination) and our emotions. Once an idea has been placed within the sub-conscious mind, it instantaneously goes to work to manifest that idea (person, place, idea) into our life as actualized matter. And the stronger our thoughts and emotions become, the faster it will manifest it on our behalf. 

But there is a step two we must adhere to. And I call that "The Collecting" stage. It's all about action. Now sometimes what we desire will appear in pure form. However, most of the time, the manifestation process is a two-step dance of true co-creation with the Universe. As soon as we are finished "creating" what we desire to manifest onto our lives, the Universe will begin to use the sub-conscious mind to deliver us new plans, action steps, and intuitive hunches to assist us in the "collecting" of our precious prize. And its during the collecting stage that the grand adventure truly begins. It's through the daily facing of our challenges, engaging obstacles, and advancing towards adversity that we learn, grow, and gain the universal insight that our soul truly seeks to savor! So be grateful that we must earn and work for what we desire. Without the "Collecting Stage," we would miss out on all the sprinkles of magic that assists in raising our own vibrational level of consciousness. All the really amazing stuff that life dishes out if we are just brave enough to answer the call to our own daily adventures! 

Because please NEVER forget, once on the other side, CONSCIOUSNESS IS YOUR CURRENCY! While it is quite a divine feeling to acquire in physical form our greatest heartfelt desires, it is our expanded soul, filled with new found learned LOVE and wisdom that we will carry within us for eternity! Let that truly sink in for a moment or three!  ;0)

Hopefully you now have a much better understanding as to why being too passive in the manner you engage life is actually counterproductive to your mission. Life is certainly far from an easy experience. And it isn't always meant to be. We learn and grow through pain and adversity. And in time, we realize that every ounce of discord was worth every tear shed in order for the attainment of our new found energetic expansion! 

And that's why my suggestion is to begin to tackle your dreams and goals with absolute FEROCITY! Now I did NOT say attack life! Life is completely rigged in your favor. Always! Never forget to be in total allowance of "the Flow" that creates your connection to SOURCE. The natural, abundant nature that brings the never ending force of LOVE and all its super powers into your existence. But as I stated earlier, you can be in complete  allowance of life's "natural flow" and at the same time tackle your CALLINGS/GOALS with a fervent ferocity. 

And FEROCITY is a tool that can assist you in climbing the toughest of mountains! Here is my definition of this revelatory Super Heroic Habit:

Focused

Enthusiastic

Responsive

Observant

Consistent

Intentional

Tenacious

Yearning to Be Great

Being ferocious means being "all in!" It's doing all the things that most others choose not to. It means stepping WAY out of your comfort zone each and every day. It's about taking inspired action. Meaning you are taking cues from the intuitive signs, hunches, and whispers that are constantly being sent to you by the Universe and acting upon them in absolute FAITH! And it's the path of all Superheroes!

Life truly does begin at the end of your own Comfort Zones! Staying comfortable causes your Inner Superhero to become agitated and discontent; like a caged tiger mauling its lockbox so that it can be UNLEASHED out into the world. Your Super Heroic Higher Self came here to be DISRUPTIVE! To blast this world with bliss filled boosts of love, compassion, kindness, creativity, service, inspiration, and joy!

We are all "Legends in the Making." It's our very birthright to be Iconoclastic Innovators! And as Superheroes, we have the super powers to be forcefully disruptive in a world that desires to be awoken from its deep slumber. Showering each day with LOVE BOMBS of spiritual "shock and awe" is our collective purpose on this planet! We knew the nominal norm was no longer serving our highest good. So we are here to LOVE this world back into the LIGHT! BAM! Boom! Ka-pow! 

But we must earn this conscious change. Not because we are in any way not already completely worthy.  Because we are! But the process toward expansive growth, wisdom, learning, and massive shifts in collective change requires massive action. It's the system  the ONE GOD MIND put into place in this dense realm called Earth. As we forge through our own daily challenges, we are forced to stretch our own energetic signatures to blast through any previous notions of what the beauty of our own reality can BE! We begin to learn that the sky is NOT the limit; only the beginning of our own magnificence! And as our own core essence of energy expands, so does the Universe in equal proportions. It's the most magical equation in all the Cosmos. And a true "win, win" across the spiritual spectrum!

So I highly suggest you start to build the Super Heroic Habit of FEROCITY today!

Begin with creating a daily "Morning Mindset." For instance, part of my own morning routine is a mediation followed by repeating my Daily Intentions. Here are my intentions for today:

TODAY I INTEND TO BE:

Filled with Gratitude

Alive with Ferocity in ALL I do

Radiating with Bliss for mySELF and all others

Overflowing with LOVE

Boundless with compassion and kindness

Steadfast in KNOWINGNESS that through my own magic, Extraordinary Things

will be Made Superhero Manifest

Establishing an empowering Morning Mindset places yourSELF in a super space for a day of success and unadorned joy! And creates a habit of centering your mind, and realigning your energy toward your goals, not against them. Re-member, if you want to see great changes in your life, you have to change things in your life in a BIG WAY! As Albert Einstein said, "Problems cannot be solved from the same level of consciousness that created them." Holla! 

Good thoughts, good words, and good deeds will lead to massive change in you life. But it's up to you to bare the task of creating new, empowering habits to see the change you desire to experience! Your own Inner Superhero is waiting to be set free. So step out of that comfort zone and soar to new, empowering, extraordinary heights and punch a hole in the sky of your greatest desires! And please DO NOT BE AFRAID TO BE FEROCIOUS IN ATTACKING YOUR GOALS!

Why KNOW-LEDGE is Perhaps the Greatest SUPER POWER...!

The power of inspiration, on the other hand, comes from Knowledge. It cannot be influenced. It is immune to this kind of persuasion. Even a Greater Community set of skills used against an individual strong with Knowledge would not be effective in changing their perception, their understanding or their experience. The influence would be felt, but it would be recognized as a perpetration from the outside.

A couple of years after I moved to Los Angeles, CA, I began attending Wednesday night services at a non-denominational dojo of pure dynamite known as AGAPE.  Agape is Greek for "unconditional love."  And boy was LOVE dispersed there like cotton candy at a local town fair!  This harmonious haven is led by Dr. Michael Beckwith from the movie The Secret.  They truly smashed the proverbial bowl when The Grand Creator went and blew him off a cloud in heaven.  He has some of the most infectious energy I have ever been around.  And when he really starts channeling "spirit" he starts to sound just like Chris Rock.  Wanna see for yourSELF?  Go check out one of his many videos on YouTube.  I am quite sure you will be super glad you did!  

One particular evening while I was studying with a group of like minded friends and him at this temple, a young woman in the small crowd raised her hand. Dr. Beckwith was in the middle of a sermon on how to manifest more in your life.  With great zealous enthusiasm she jumped up out of her seat and asked the following question, "So what do you do if you really, really like fresh squeezed orange juice?"  (Small giggle from the rest of us)  To which Dr. Beckwith responded, "Well then you go buy the fresh squeezed orange juice."  She bounced back with, "But the fresh squeezed orange juice is three times more expensive than the non squeezed.  And I am on a tight budget being an actress in training."  Dr. Beckwith's reply has been like a gymnast, totally "sticking the landing" within me ever since!  With a wild and wicked declaration said, "Well then, you better KNOW, that you KNOW, what you KNOW!"  (Bursts of laughter from the crowd)

It actually took me a few years to completely understand exactly what he meant. He was casting out to us the importance of understanding that KNOWINGNESS is the most important part of our collective creative prowess. It's the state of unwavering GRATITUDE that comes from truly believing that whatever it is we have "asked for" is on its way!  And so learning to be thankful for it even before you can SEE it.  For seeing is NOT believing.  LOL  Believing FIRST is the key to unlocking the bounty of blessings that are our very birthright.  See the difference..  ;0)  In that very moment, he was trying to enlighten this woman to the idea it would be in her best interest to KNOW that more money was coming before buying that orange juice.  As long as she completely believed that fact, than why not go ahead and get the best orange juice out there?!

And just as mastering the art of KNOWINGNESS is crucial in our growth process, so is the attainment of KNOW_LEDGE.  As the old saying goes, true power comes from our repertoire of all which we KNOW. And that's why the typical millionaire reads two to three books each and every month.  Yes, even after they've seemingly "done it all."  ESPECIALLY after they have! For they understand what got them to that state of abundance in all its forms.  It was their KNOW-LEDGE. And then putting that knowledge into daily action with complete knowingness.  For the answers to all that you seek to manifest into your earthly experience lies within that simple formula!  Always has been that way, and it will NEVER change.  Trust!   ;0)

That's why I tell all of my clients the process I will coach them through is actually quite simple. Deep. But simple. The work we do on the "inside" is very similar in vein to the work we do on the outside.  With our physical bodies.  It's learning to shift the energy within you from CATABOLIC (destructive) to ANABOLIC (Empowering and expansive) in nature.  Presto, chango!  Ta da!  I'll be here till Thursday.  Don't forget to tip your waitresses! LOL

Unfortunately our education system is set up in such a manner that the great majority of our "learning" happens by the time we finish college.  Such a travesty, isn't it?!  The secret sauce between those who thrive in life and those who simply eek out a meager survival is their KNOW-LEDGE base. You may be thinking, "Aw come on now Jeffrey!  Some people were just born with a silver spoon in their mouth.  That's why the rich just keep on getting richer and the poor poorer."  But the reality is that during and after "The Great Depression," the true pioneers of our time were mostly self made men who acquired and developed the KNOW-LEDGE others did not. Then the few who actually put that KNOW-LEDGE into well thought out plans and daily action steps became the iconoclasts of our time!  Napoleon Hill's entire life's work proved this to be true. Please read his amazing book, Think and Grow Rich, to get inspired to this truth!

So what exactly is KNOW-LEDGE?!  Let's break up the word into two halves. The first segment being KNOW.  To "know" is to be of absolute certainty.  No doubts. BOOM!  But are you aware that the meaning of LEDGE is to extend? So, by very definition, KNOW-LEGDE means to "extend KNOWINGNESS" out into the Universe!  The greater your personal KNOW-LEDGE, the more powerful your vibrational energetic offerings.  The more you KNOW, the more the Universe will GROW.  Hey, I made a little rhyme there. Catchy, huh?! LOL And by knowing YOU and the Universe are indeed ONE, that means as the Universe expands, so does your personal energetic essence.  It's the most perfect symbiotic relationship imaginable.  And we all know how much we are possible of imagining! But you can only extend that which you already have within you. So, doesn't it make simple sense to try and acquire as much KNOW-LEDGE as possible each and every day?  I'd sure as hell say so! 

Here are some supreme suggestions on how to further expand your own KNOW-LEDGE:

1. Start creating a book list. Perhaps begin by asking people who have had an inspirational influence upon you what books they would recommend.  Re-member success leaves a trail.  Become a hound dog and sniff those trails out for yourSELF!

2. Join MentorBox. For just 10 bucks month, you can join one of the leading online book clubs in the world. I joined two years ago and I LOVE IT! Their proprietary system allows you to fully customize the manner in which you digest all the material of the books they have in their massive collection. They even have the books broken down into video based segments done from the authors themselves. It's basically an electronic "cliff notes" for the too busy to read set.

3. Become aware of FB and Instagram advertisements produced by authors who are literally giving their new books away.  All you have to do is pay for shipping and handling. (typically 5-7 bucks) Yes, you may have to click through a "funnel system" as they incite you to add more products to your order, but you simply press NO to each request.  Easy peezy!

4. Look to join local book clubs.  My sister is in one here in Northern Virginia and adores her time spent there each month.  And she has made some terrific new friends ta boot!

5.  Check out MindValley.  They are an online "Global School" whose goal it is to transform the world through KNOW_LEDGE!  They offer a gi-normous amount of completely free master class trainings on every subject you can think of.  It's a great new place for you mind to call home.

I was watching an episode of Oprah's Super Soul Sunday Live from NY last evening.  And Melinda Gates (Bill Gate's wife) was a guest.  She said other than health care, the most important thing we lack in this world is equal opportunities of education.  She stressed how important KNOW-LEDGE is to creating a world in which everyone is treated as equal.  PREACH,  Mrs. Gates!

So what are you waiting for?  That boob tube can be used as a powerful tool for further education, but what would it feel like to know that you are expanding both yourSELF and the Universe as a whole by searching out vessels for your own advancement in all things KNOW-LEDGE? I strongly urge you to not only drink a gallon of water a day for your body.  But please do not forget to "water your mind" everyday by stretching your capacity to learn!  Gotta scoot.  Tons of books are calling my name.....................
