Are Your PRAYERS Full of Their True POWER And POTENTIAL..?!?!?

TODAY'S INSPIRATIONAL “MYTHOLOGICAL MAGIC”

When I was growing up, a part of my nightly ritual was saying my prayers right before going to bed. And as I now look back with the 20/20 vision of pure hindsight as my guide, I can see the Gi-normous difference in the energy that was behind the words uttered all those thousands of nights ago versus how I pray today!  While I do not believe in right versus wrong, or  in advocating the manner in which anyone chooses to connect with their own sense of Godliness, I have Re-membered through the guidance of many mentors, teachers, and coaches some sage suggestions regarding the manner in which to pray! 

Many of us (myself included back in the day) see the act of praying as a way of asking for that which we DESIRE or hope to bring into our experience.  Be it money, a job, a partner, and often God's healing hands to bring the ending of pain, suffering, or dis-ease to ourselves or those that we LOVE.  Seemingly, prayer becomes something akin to a Universal ‘Wish List’ for a SOURCE (God, Spirit, Infinite Intelligence ) to fulfill at our command.  And I DO NOT use the word WISH lightly in the previous sentence.  As in, wishful thinking or wishing that all of our dreams come true.  As we all now know, everything is made up of energy.  Including our prayers.  Especially our prayers.  And I truly believe that using prayer with any sense of wishful energy behind it is No Thing less than a POOR PRAYER!  

Prayer is perhaps the most potent and powerful ally that we have in this illusional plane of existence. And too many of us are not taking full advantage of its power of TRANSFORMATION!!  You must Re-member that YOU ARE A CHILD OF GOD!!  A perfectly unique emanation of Godly LOVE and energy that is cherished beyond your comprehension.  And that life is actually rigged in your favor.  I know, I know, it often appears as though the complete opposite were true!  For years, I felt like the Universe forgot who I was, where I lived, and what I desired.  I refused to even utter the words, “Well at least it can't get any worse than THIS!”  Because quite often, IT DID!!  But through my many years of self transformational work and study, I have come to understand that one CORE issue that was at the root cause of my devastating frustration was the manner in which I prayed.  

My prayers used to be filled with anxious energy and a sense of urgency that was completely antithetical to what I was trying to obtain.  Not unlike a child who writes his wish list to Santa every year, and then rushes down the stairs on Christmas morning hoping that what they wrote down on that piece of paper was siting under the tree.  

My prayers look and sound much differently now.  Where before I would ask God for what I desired, often feeling afterward like I wasn't even completely worthy of it.  Another perfect example of POOR PRAYING!!  I have found the act of prayer to be most effective when it is used as an act of GRATITUDE and THANKS.  This Universe and all of the LOVE that created it desires only for all of us to have the  grandest experiences of our heartfelt desires being met and fulfilled!  So when we come to God/Spirit with a prayer, I highly suggest it is fully ensconced with a steely energy of certainty and knowingness that it will be granted.  A prayer is the ultimate THANK YOU note you will ever write or say to anyone!!  It is your personal connection with an unlimited amount of pure LOVE that governs the Universe.  Prayer is greatly weakened when it is filled with wishful thinking and ANY sense of doubt about its ability to manifest into your experience.  It is an eternal handshake with the Universe that ‘As you ASK, so shall you RECEIVE.’  And so it is!!

Please Re-member however, that what we desire and seek in our lives, is often NOT wrapped in the packaging that we have held in our mind's eye when it is delivered.  So be sure to leave plenty of room for Spirit to work its magic within your own life when you pray.  Trust me, God knows and understands what is in our best interest far better than we do!  How often have you looked back on your own life and been actually thankful that what you asked for didn't come your way or stay in your life?!?  Yet something even grander and more DIVINE did in its place?!  That is exactly what I am referring to when I say don't always judge a book by its preverbal cover.  

I would like to leave you with what a typical prayer looks like for me nowadays.  Not for you to copy or imitate, but to further help you Re-member the energetic resonance that makes full use of the true power of prayer!!

Dear God, as I KNOW you to be the source of all that is, I would like to say Thank You for already starting the process of bringing the exact people , places, and experiences into my life that will allow me to continue to be of service to all those still living in the darkness of their own Soul.  For I believe that before my words were even uttered, you began this miraculous process of knowingness into my existence.  I trust that you can see within my heart so deep, that you have already started sending the perfect versions of that which will be for the Highest Good of all concerned into all of my daily co-creations!  God, my dreams are big, however I know that the vision you hold for me is even bigger and grander than what I can even imagine!  And that I need only to ALLOW the abundance waiting for me to flow into my life in a perfect and divine time and manner.  I understand that some of these miracles may be challenging, but will Re-member they were brought to me for my own Hero's Journey!   And so it is..........

The Story Of THE LITTLE SOUL.............

TODAY'S INSPIRATIONAL “MYTHOLOGICAL MAGIC”

Back in 1996, I was caught in the middle of an incredibly vitriolic and spiteful business relationship that nearly cost me my life.  I had only been out of college for a couple of years and still finding my way in the wild and at the time wonderful world of television broadcasting.  After a two year stint working for WRC-TV (NBC-Washington, DC) as a sports producer for the ‘George Michael Sports Machine’, I decided that 80 hour work weeks and Holidays spent behind closed doors editing video tapes of college football games while chowing down on what I THINK was cold turkey and stuffing was not the things my dreams were made of!  

So I landed a job for a local TV production company in the suburbs of DC.  They produced a local half hour business program(that I shall refrain from naming for legal purposes) that promoted up and coming tech companies in the DMV area.  The first year was a total BLAST!  Here I was 24 years old, holding meetings with the likes of Steve Case of AOL, and Larry Ellison of Oracle.   This is when the technology revolution was in its infant stage, and simply being around the icons who were prescient enough to see the future was mind blowing!  And in the process I definitely got my MBA at the University of MIH- MAKE IT HAPPEN!  LOL  

During the second year of employment, my boss and then close friend asked me to relocate to San Francisco to start a West Coast version of the show in Silicon Valley, where most of the most influential tech companies were setting up shop.  I had been itching to to get back to the West Coast (I was born in LA) for years and jumped at the opportunity.  And for the first four months, I woke up every morning thinking I was in some sort of duplicate Universe where dreams ALWAYS come true. It was the Land of OZ for the tech set!   I had daily meetings with the CEO's of companies like Sun Microsystems, Yahoo, and Oracle.  Although I sometimes felt out of my league, I NEVER let em see me sweat.  And they accepted me as one of their own.  Meetings by day and parties at night, all in one of the most beautiful and eclectic cities in the world!  I was truly a STARGAZER collecting information and memories of a lifetime.  

And then, one October morning in 1996, I got an email from one of the companies I had met with the previous week.  They were calling me a fraud because I had told them that the sponsors of the show which was to air on the local ABC affiliate were The Wall Street Journal and Dunn and Bradstreet.  The company had connections at both companies and they claimed they were in no way affiliated with the show.  While reading the email, my heart began to pound arrhytmically!  I started having a minor panic attack.  They were threatening to send a letter to every tech company in San Francisco telling them that I was running a scam and to not accept meetings with me.  

I immediately called my boss back in Virginia to try and straighten out this unbelievable mess!  After all, he was the one who told me that those two entities were the sponsors of the show.  I was only repeating the information given to me by him and our company.  After an explicit tirade he fired me on the spot and told me I had 24 hours to vacate the apartment he had set up for me and the rest of the crew.  Needless to say, I was shell shocked.  What the HELL was going on, I thought.  

After having no other choice than to hire a lawyer, the TRUTH slowly unfolded like a guilty lover hiding his dalliances with the utmost discretion.  My boss had lied about the sponsors singing on to the show.  In his infinite wisdom, he believed he could get REAL sponsors signed onto the show before anyone found out.  In the meantime, I was the companies face man out on the West Coast.  The waiter serving food that had been screwed up by the cooks in the proverbial company kitchen.
To save his own ass, he blamed me for all the confusion and sent me to the awaiting wolves.

When I was fired I lost my health insurance and the massive amount of stress over the possibility that my reputation in the tech community was ruined, caused my Crohn's disease to spiral completely out of control.  By the time I was actually able to obtain decent health care, my doctors said my colon was so diseased that it was about to perforate.  Which meant, instant death.  I had lost an enormous amount of weight under the pressure of the previous few moths and was actually too weak for the 12 hour surgery to have my colon removed.  But after a long chat with my doctor, I decided to take the risk of having the operation rather than waiting to regain enough weight and strength before going under the knife.  

The memories of the whole surgery and the almost 16 month recovery is still haunting to my soul.  It was excrutiating in ways human beings should never have to suffer.  And let's say that wearing a colostomy bag at age 27 is not exactly a hit with the ladies!  lol  Even though it was hidden underneath my t-shirts, every time I passed gas, the bag blew up like a balloon, scaring the shit out of anyone in arms distance of me.  Yeah, that's how I rolled!   :0)

While recovering from this nightmarish ordeal, you can only imagine the amount of anger and frustration I had toward my former friend and boss.  He went so far as to forbid ANYONE in the company to visit me while I was in the hospital.  There were days and nights in which I absolutely fantasized about ripping all the tubes from the hospital machines from my body and taking a taxi to his house to ummmmmmm...have a little chat!  With my fists acting as compassionate truth seekers!

I held onto that anger and pain of betrayal for quite a while.  In fact, at times it consumed my every thought.  Ironically enough, it was during this time that my current path of self realization started to take its core form.  While still in the hospital, a friend of mine gave me a book called ‘The Celestine Prophecy’, and I for the first time in my life I felt like I was home. A few weeks later i was finally released from the hospital and went straight to the nearest Barnes and Noble with that book firmly in hand.

I excitedly asked the nearest store clerk where this book could be found in the store.  And within a few yards, I was in a row that felt like Conscious Christmas land.  Books after books of like energy to   the one I had carried into the store.  I bought about twenty of them and stormed back to my car to get home as fast as I could to begin what I know now to be the start of my own Hero's Journey.

The first book I read is still today the most influential on my own personal resonance with the world of spiritual truth and Universal Law that felt like TRUTH to me.  The book's title was ‘Conversations with God’ by Neale Donald Walsh.  Page after page was filled with wisdom and knowledge that fed my soul and strengthened my faith!  This was as close to feeling Heaven on Earth as I had ever felt!

And then something that transformed my understanding of human interaction occurred when I got to the section where Mr. Walsh told the story of The Little Soul.  And that parable struck a cord so deep within my consciousness that it still informs my daily interactions nearly twenty years after reading it.  Here is the excerpt from the book itself:

There once was a little soul who knew itself to be the light.  This  was a new soul, and so, anxious for experience. "I am the light,"  it said. "I am the light." Yet all the knowing of it and all the saying of it could not substitute for the experience of it. And in the realm from which this soul emerged, there was nothing but the light.

 Every soul was grand, every soul was magnificent, and every soul shone with the brilliance of MY awesome light. And so the little soul in question was as a candle in the sun. In the midst of the grandest light- of which it was a part- it could not see itself, nor experience itself as Who and What it Really Is.

Now it came to pass, that the little soul yearned and yearned to know itself. And so great was its yearning that "I" one day said, "Do you know little one, what you must do to satisfy this yearning of yours?" "Oh what, God? what? I'll do anything!? The little soul said.

"You must separate yourself from the rest of us," I answered, "and then you must call upon yourself the darkness."

"You may choose to be any Part of God you wish to be," I said to the little soul.

"You are the Absolute Divinity, experiencing Itself. What Aspect of Divinity do you now wish to experience as you?"

"You mean I have a choice," asked the little soul.

I answered, "Yes." You may choose to experience any Aspect of Divinity in, as, and through you."

"Okay," said the little soul, then I choose forgiveness. I want to experience my Self as that Aspect of God called Complete Forgiveness."

Well, this created a little challenge, as you can imagine. 

There was no one to forgive. All I have created is Perfection and Love

"No one to forgive?" asked the Little Soul, somewhat incredulously.

"No one," I repeated. "Look around you. Do you see any souls less perfect, less wonderful than you?"

As the Little soul twirled around, and was surprised to see himself surrounded by all the souls in heaven. They came from far and wide throughout the Kingdom, because they had heard the little soul was having an extraordinary conversation with God.

"I see none less perfect than I," the Little Soul exclaimed." Who then, shall I have to forgive?"

Just then another soul stepped forward from the back of the crowd. "You may forgive me," said the Friendly Soul.

"For what?" the little soul asked.

"I will come onto your next physical lifetime and do something for you to forgive," replied the Friendly Soul.

"But what? What could you, a being of such Perfect Light, do to  make me forgive you?" the Little Soul wanted to know.

"Oh," smiled the Friendly Soul, I'm sure we can think of

something."

"But why would you want to do this?" The Little Soul could not figure out why a being of such perfection would want to slow down its vibration so much that it could actually do something "bad."

"Simple," the Friendly Soul explained," I would do it because I love you. You want to experience your Self as Forgiving, don't you? Besides, you have done the same for me."

"I have?" asked the Little Soul.

"Of course. Don't you remember? We've been All Of It, you and I.

 We've been the Up and the Down of it, and the Left and Right of it.

 We've been the Here and Now of it, and the Now and Then of it.

 We've  been the Big and Small of it, the Male and Female of it, the Good and Bad of it. We've been the All of it.

"And we've done it by agreement, so that each of us might experience ourselves as The Grandest Part of God. For we have understood that.....

"In the absence of that which You Are Not, that Which You Are, is NOT.

"In the absence of 'cold,' you cannot be 'warm.' In the absence of 'sad,' you cannot be 'happy,' without a thing called 'evil,' the experience you call 'good' cannot exist.

If you choose to be a thing, something or someone opposite to that has to show up somewhere in your universe to make that possible."

The Friendly Soul then explained that those people are God's Special Angels, and these conditions God's Gifts.

"I ask only one thing in return, " the Friendly Soul declared.

"Anything! Anything," the Little Soul cried. He was excited now to know that he could experience every Divine Aspect of God. He understood, now The Plan.

"In the moment that I strike you and smite you," said the Friendly Soul, " in the moment that I do the worst to you that you could ever  imagine---in that self-same moment....remember Who I Really Am. For I will have forgotten."

"Oh, I won't forget!" promised the Little Soul. "I will see you in the perfection with which I hold you now, and I will remember Who You Are, always."

And that is why Jesus the Christ, on the cross, looked to the prisoners also being crucified to his left and right and looked to the sky and said to SPIRIT, “Forgive them father, for they know Not what they do.”

That parable created a wave of conscious sensation that removed the veil of illusion from my shortsighted emotions toward my former friend and boss almost instantaneously.  He had given me an opportunity to learn the true and authentic power of FORGIVENESS.  And from that moment on, I decided to hold a space of LOVE and LIGHT for him for as long as I lived. 

In what way does this story touch your feelings about the possible intentions behind the actions and words of those who have hurt or wronged you on your path?  Could it be that there is someone in your past or even in your life currently who stepped up on YOUR behalf to allow you the exact experience you chose to have on your Journey?!  And more importantly, have you remembered WHO THEY TRULY ARE when they caused you that strife and pain, because they chose to forget themselves as the ultimate gesture of Love and Compassion? !  

It might be something worth pondering  as you continue on your path and purpose!  I know it has saved me an enormous amount of resentment, pain and suffering.  And my wish is that it does the same for you......

The IMPORTANCE Of Turning Our Mistakes Into MISSTEPS..!!!

In a recent post, I wrote about the gift of receiving a DO OVER from the Universe.  If you haven't had the chance to read it as of yet, I suggest doing so before continuing with today's entry.  Typically, the reason we are given these opportunities are to learn from our ‘mistakes’ so that we can move forward with a renewed sense of purpose and understanding.  However,    for many of us, we are forced to face a series of DO OVERS that could have been superceded had we not been so wary of making the same ‘mistake’ over again.  It can paralyze us with fear and anxiety.  Stop us cold in our tracks from making authentic choices with the limiting beliefs that we are somehow JUST NOT GOOD ENOUGH to make better choices this time around.  Life is just too damn short to spend too much of it in a vortex of resimulated patterns of circumstances and experiences until we receive the understanding and Re-membrance they were presented for us to grasp.  I have seen too many precious Souls with so much potential who waste great periods of their life paralyzed with fear and worry, too afraid they may make a ‘mistake’ and screw things up, yet again, rather than reframing their past actions as NO THING less than MISSTEPS along their Journey.

So what exactly is the difference between a MISTAKE and a MISSTEP?  A Misstep is when you take an action that is not of the highest choice for the given situation you happen to find yourself in.  But, RELAX, because that is precisely how we learn. And it is proof that you moved past your fear and gave something a TRY!    In fact most Missteps are unavoidable because we have never been in that particular set of circumstances before.  As the saying goes, “Life is 10% what happens, and 90% the way we show up in its wake to handle it.”  A MISTAKE can only occur when we make the same MISSTEP over and over again with no course correction.  Most of the time this is caused by the EGO, which either cases us to beat ourselves up or  refuse to take any responsibility for the action in the first place.  It causes energy of self-judgement and fear.

But we live in a society that demands perfection.  I recently had a rundown of my Godson's nightly homework assignments (He is only 10) and I needed a drink just to contemplate how such a young lad could handle such a massive amount of information!  Aye dios mio!!  We are taught at a young age the importance of ‘being right’ and social media has made it critical for us to show the world a persona sans any signs of imperfection!  

But as the great master teacher Yoda says, “If no mistakes are you making, another game should you be playing.”  And he is so right!  In fact, most of the world's great visionaries used this reframing to their great advantage.  Take Thomas Edison for instance.  He tried to make that bulb in his office light  so bright from electricity over 2,000 different times.  Yet, he refused to ever say he made a mistake.  Instead, he reframed these attempts as missteps, each one actually a revolutionary success.  Because each time the bulb failed to light, he knew he had discovered a way that electricity would NOT WORK!   How many of us would have gotten frustrated, embarrased, or fearful that we would never succeed in the endeavour if we were in his set of DO OVERS?!  My hand is up in the air, is yours?!  lol

As long as we learn from them, mistakes don't even exist.  Harold J. Smith said it best when he declared, “More people would learn from their mistakes if they weren't too busy denying them.”  Amen!  I believe your best teacher is your last MISSTEP!  If you take the time to listen, and learn from what it taught you!

What pains my own Soul, is the thought of how many great works of art, poems, paintings, songs, architecture, books, and relationships NEVER came to be because  of those individuals whose fear of taking action steps kept them from ever completing their Hero's/Heroine's Journey!  It's absolutely sobering to contemplate!  If only they could have had the foresight to reframe any perceived MISTAKE as simply a MISSTEP on their path to soulful fulfillment. 

Please do not be one of the special Spirits who came here to bring their magnificent talents and gifts to share with the world only to become stifled for fear of making a MISTAKE along your Journey.  Instead, remember MISSTEPS are not only allowed, but essential for our learning process!    For you are a perfect emanation of God and as long as you stay aware, he will guide your MISSTEPS into the Re-membrace of why you came and the BLISS you are here to share!

Are You Using Your PAIN To POWER Your PURPOSE?!?!!?

Today's post is both personal and extremely vulnerable for me to share.  However, I have dedicated my life as a WOUNDED HEALER.  And that involves being open and honest, with the faith that my tribe will respect my experiences and not judge them.  And more importantly, take some of the lessons and KNOWINGNESS gained from my own Journey to enrich theirs.  And as we all know by now, that is the paradigm of The Hero's/Heroine's Journey!  The biggest challenge is that like most Wounded Healers, my biggest strength can also be my kryptonite.  I am extremely sensitive and intuitively empathic.  And that combination makes some engagements with others quite challenging.  

Seven months ago, I found myself feeling like a pebble thrown along the shore of learned helplessness by the waves of the world's wisdom.  It was as if Spirit had tossed me ashore, and then said, “Go within.  Learn acceptance and Re-member why you came.  Collect the shards of your Purpose along the sand's tracks, by following the footsteps of your past.   For within each one there lies the gift from all your pain and suffering, trails and tribulations.  We waste nothing, and neither should you. Your tribe is waiting for you.  And so are we.”

There were moments when I felt like throwing in the towel.  I was sick with bronchitis, and had no health insurance.  My ex-girlfriend had taken our dog and left for another shore.  When I tried to use my ATM card for some cash, the machine shouted back, “You're joking, right!"  My car was in desperate need of repairs and nearly undriveable.  The job I had taken to help support my new coaching business didn't workout and I was more broke than a ‘fritter on a frying pan.’  To say I was depressed was an understatement.  I felt alone, scared, and forgotten.  

So one night, soon after,  I had a ‘Come to Spirit’ session.  I had no choice in the matter.  I couldn't continue living life in this manner.   And I knew it deep down in my soulful core.  I went into my bedroom and sat on my bed to meditate and pray.  And I made a commitment to both myself and God/Spirit.  A co-creational pact and agreement if you will.  Right then and there, I promised that I would spend my waking days on No Thing other than my PURPOSE.  On being a constant vessel for Spirit to work through me and use my lessons from pain and suffering in service of others.  That EVERY decision I made from that point for the rest of my life, would have resonation with my Hero's Journey.  That meant keeping up with a daily spiritual practice.  Going back to the gym to keep my body in the type of shape needed to be a healthy vessel for Spirit to work through.  Writing every day.  Seeking out a mentor to assist building up my coaching and leadership business.  And find a job that would further serve my Purpose by providing me with knowledge, contacts, and experience for the additional components that I desire my business to be composed of.  (Yes, The New Age Nerd Podcast is coming soon!)

In return, I promised to have unbreakable FAITH in the SOURCE energy from Spirit to show me the  proper path to take and to guide me on it while I did the heavy lifting.  I LET GO AND LET GOD.
The next morning I awoke and headed to the gym.  And then spent the rest of my day doing EXACTLY as I had promised.  I had intense focus and made sure my thoughts and actions were congruent with my Purpose.  And I have woke up and done this EVERY morning since!  And ya know what, MIRACLES started showing up left and right!  Almost every day!

The New Age Nerd viewership is now at nearly 1,200 visits per day! (Up from about 400 two months ago)  I landed a DREAM consulting job for a podcasting company that is revolutionizing the digital vertical that also gives me plenty of time to continue writing and building my coaching business!!  I am honored and humbled to have Mr. Justin Constantine as my mentor as well as assisting in helping me launch my new website.  (also coming soon!)  I have put all the weight I lost from being so sick back in March back on and am in the best shape of my life!

This experience has been one of the most profound and transformative moments in my life.  It has taught me that once we TRULY commit (And I mean TRULY) to using our own pain towards our Purpose, the Universe shows up in the most MIRACULOUS of ways!  And life seems full of MAGIC!

I urge anyone who is reading this and feels similar to the way I did, to understand no experience is wasted in this lifetime you were given.  It's up to you to use your pain to power your Purpose.  Wounds into Wisdom!!  And Re-member that you are NEVER alone!  Everything you need is already within you, waiting to be UNLEASHED and shared with the world.........

Today's Inspirational “MYTHOLOGICAL MAGIC”

Young Matt Murdock: So what kind of training is this?

Stick: You like ice cream?

Young Matt Murdock: Yeah.

Stick: Then shut up and eat it. I'll ask the questions. First thing you gotta understand is nobody feels sorry for you and nobody ever will. 'Cause when it comes to being born lucky you won the friggin' lottery.

Young Matt Murdock: I did?

Stick: [Smacks him with his cane] What did I say about questions?

Young Matt Murdock: "Shut up."

Stick: Good. How old were you when you got blinded?

Young Matt Murdock: Nine.

Stick: Nine? So you had nine whole years of looking at movies, blue skies, up girlies' skirts that I never had. I was born blind. You don't hear me whining about it, do you?

Young Matt Murdock: No.

Stick: So, you're nine years old, walking along, minding your own business and whammo! Get hit by a truck, killed dead on the spot.

Young Matt Murdock: I wasn't killed.

Stick: You lived? Praise God, it's a miracle. So you survive the truck and get this chemical shit in your eyes. What next?

Young Matt Murdock: I hear things.

Stick: What kind of things?

Young Matt Murdock: Everything. Coughs and fights and cats meowing. Sometimes blocks away. I can sense things. I know where things are and when they move. But I can't see.

Stick: You know what they call stuff like that? Gifts. The special kind. The kind that very few people have. Or deserve.

Young Matt Murdock: I never thought of it that way.

Stick: Well, that's because you're stupid.

Young Matt Murdock: I'm not stupid, I'm smart.

Stick: Because you taught yourself how to run your little fingers over the bumps and read Braille? Smart don't come out of books, kid. Smart is making the right decision at the right time. Like now. What's it gonna be, Matty? You gonna spend your life crying and rocking yourself to sleep at night? Or are you gonna dig deep and find out what it takes to reshuffle those cards life dealt you? Your call. [Matt looks at Stick] [chuckles] Good choice, kid.

Growing up in the 80's, Bill Murray was one of my comic heroes.  As I am quite sure he still is for many fans of comedy.  But there is one particular film of his that is much more profound for its inherent nature of sharing many truths about the path to self improvement that it is given credit for.  The film is called ‘Groundhog Day’ and if you have yet to see it, I highly suggest carving out some time in the near future to do so!  

The film is also a wonderful representation of one of life's greatest gifts, that being the delectable DO OVER.  And for those of us who use this magnificent opportunity when in it presents itself in our lives, it is perhaps the most effective manner in which to be RE-BIRTHED into a Greater Version of The Greatest Vision of yourself!  

In the film, Bill Murray's character gets caught up in a ‘time loop’ that has him reliving the exact same day, Groundhog Day in fact, over and over.....and OVER again!  Each morning as he awakes, the day starts EXACTLY as it did the day before.  As he progresses  through each day, he is confronted at the same time by the exact set of individuals and circumstances from the day before.  A virtual life glitch that has no ON/OFF button he can find.  

Murray plays an obviously discontented meteorologist who believes the menial task of traveling to Punxsutawney, PA to cover this annual event is way beneath his talent and good sensibilities.  Like most films transcendent in nature, there are many lenses through which the manner in which the story unfolds can be interpreted.  For me, it is a superb metaphor for the way that the Universe, sensing a need, will essentially RECREATE a very similar set of circumstances in our lives from the past, giving us the opportunity to engage them(Hopefully) with a new earned sense of understanding and change in perspective;  basically we are given the gift of a DO OVER!   And very often, if the prerequisite lessons are not learned, the Universe has absolutely NO problem setting up the circumstances once again, until we finally grasp the knowledge that these events were provided for.  Some of us are perhaps slower learners than others, and that is OK!

The movie plays out such an example on DAY 3 of this perpetual GROUNDHOG DAY.  Murray's character once again steps in the middle of a large muddy puddle, ruining his shoes and pants, still not having learned his lesson from the previous two days.  Sound familiar?!  Filled with self judgement, he begins to despair his actions and choices in life.  Again, does that resonate with you?!  It sure does with me!  LOL  That night in a local bar, he decides to drown his sorrows with booze and says, “I was in the Virgin Islands once.  I met a girl.  We ate lobster and drank pina coladas.  At sunset we made love like sea otters. THAT was a pretty good day.  Why couldn't I get that day over and over again?”  Ah, but what lessons could be drawn from reliving a magnificent day such as that?  No, we receive FAR more wisdom and knowingness from reliving situations that caused us despair, pain, and suffering.  At at its core, that is exactly what a DO OVER is all about!

In fact, I am currently in the middle of a DO OVER myself.  And I couldn't be more THRILLED!  I mean how often have you even prayed for a chance to go back in time and relive a set of experiences, already knowing how you would engage them with a higher sense of care, consideration, and intent?  Well guess what, the Universe has this paradigm built into its programming.  And when there are certain lessons and knowledge that are needed to complete your Hero's/Heroine's Journey, the Universe, like a genie in a ‘life circumstantial’ bottle, will offer you the opportunity that you seek.  You will inevitably receive a DO OVER that mimics many of the same set of circumstances as something that has transpired before.  Just like MAGIC!  All in the hopes that THIS time, you will grasp the gift and opportunity at hand, and receive this gift with reverence and awareness!  

Murray's character Phil, after sensing there is nothing he can do but ACCEPT his situation of reliving each day over and over again, finally succumbs to his reticence about the situation and begins an arc of self improvement.  He begins practicing generosity, reading books, taking piano lessons, and even learning French!   Admittedly, many of his actions are at first all in an attempt to impress his producer Rita.   It isn't until Phil (Murray) begins to Let Go and Let God and allow the changes he has made in himself to be experienced and noticed by those around him in a truly authentic manner, that he wakes up and it is FINALLY February 3rd, the day AFTER Groundhog Day.  His lessons learned, his purpose now clear, he is allowed to continue on with his life!  

What I find quite fascinating, is that the film's late director and comic genius in his own right, Harold Ramis has been quoted as saying that Phil (Murray) needed close to 30-40 years of reliving the same day to  have the lessons he needed for his Hero's Journey to be fully engrained in his sense of BEING.  And as harsh as that may sound, I know that it has taken me decades to finally come to the understanding and full comprehension of many of my own life lessons!  There are many more I am still working on!   And, if you are truly honest with yourself, I am quite sure the same rings true for you!  Agreed?!  :0)

Life is a constant Journey, that allows us many opportunities for us to learn from our past mistakes and is more than gracious in sending us as many DO OVERS as we may need until we receive with deep reverence the knowledge and understanding at their core.  However, it is up to us to stay AWARE.  We are often so consumed with LIFE, that we are not present enough to recognize that circumstances are lining up in such a transformative and magical manner to allow us to relive our own version of Groundhog Day for the Re-memberance it can bring.  And when we are fortunate enough to have the Universe bless us with such a gift, enter into it with verve, gusto, and no fear!  Become a SOULdier of Love, and a Steward of Remembrance to extract every juicy amount of wisdom the opportunity was brought to unfold into your experience! 

And BE AWARE, if you chose NOT to learn from these blessed gifts of DO OVERS, they WILL RETURN.  So it's your call!  Do the work NOW, or later.  Either way, eventually it must be done!   
And take it from me, the longer you wait, the harder it is and the more it HURTS!

Why LONELINESS Is The World's Great EPIDEMIC..........

TODAY'S INSPIRATIONAL “MYTHOLOGICAL MAGIC”

For the last five years, I have been following a woman I consider to be a Wounded Healer, mystic, visionary, and all around authentic Soul.  Her name is Dr. Lissa Rankin and her blog posts, speeches and books have very much informed my own Hero's Journey.  She is one of those rare individuals whose essence of KNOWINGNESS effortlessly imbues her work and shines through to those of us lucky enough to be aware of her prodigious talents.  For those who are still uninitiated, I highly suggest visiting her website www.lissarankin.com  But be forewarned, she pulls no punches and suffers no fools.  If you are one and ready for a form of self improvement that causes you to truly face your fears and limiting beliefs with a side of NO BULLSHIT, you will truly resonate with her teachings!

Dr. Rankin has been on the at large speaking circuit for many years, and has given several TED talks the last few years.  But something quite profound, yet not completely unexpected was expressed when she was asked by a panel what the next great medical epidemic that faces mankind, her answer was succinct and to the point.  LONELINESS.  She considers it to be a greater health threat than obesity, smoking, and drug and alcohol addiction combined.  Sobering stuff!! 

Yet, if you were to be honest with yourself, do you feel more lonely NOW than you did five  years ago?  I have the feeling the answer may be a resounding YES.  The technology revolution, while providing us with an amazing array of advances in communication capabilities, has also caused us to become alienated to each other in true, authentic, SOUL connected ways.  How many of you are using texting as your major form of ‘communicating’ with each other?  And are substituting Facebook and Skype chats in lieu of actually going to visit someone IN PERSON.  Don't get me wrong, some of these advances have actually made great strides in connecting people who would otherwise never have even met.  I get that!  I've gone on dates from it! (Though it doesn't make dating any easier..TRUST!)  

But there is a whole other side to the devastating amount of disconnection that has transformed our way of engaging one another in an organic and meaningful manner.  In fact, just the other night, I was at a restaurant and I kid you not, at least HALF of the tables were filled with folks who were ALL texting on their cell phones, seemingly oblivious to the other participants at their own table.  FRIGHTENING!  

“As a nation, we are embracing the digital revolution and, ironically, we are becoming a lonelier population. While there are many benefits of being participants in possibly the most relationally connected age in human history, the social media revolution has not made us feel more connected, less lonely, or replete with friends,” reports David Kinnaman, president of the Barna Group.  In the same Barna report, they discovered that loneliness has doubled in the past decade.  

People who are subjected to long periods of loneliness are MUCH more susceptible to a malady of illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, obesity, dementia, and chronic inflammatory disease.  Not to mention skyrocketing increases in both clinical depression and anxiety.  

According to a research study by Psychology Today, “It turns out that fundamentally, long-term loneliness isn't about being awkward, or the victim of circumstance, or lacking opportunities to meet people. Each can be the reason for relatively short-term loneliness - anyone who has ever moved to a new town or a new school and had to start building a network of friends from scratch certainly knows what it's like to be lonely. But this kind of loneliness needn't last long, and new relationships usually are formed... unless you've fallen into a way of thinking that keeps relationships from forming.

More than anything else, the cure for persistent loneliness lies in breaking the negative cycle of thinking that created it in the first place.”

This is where we all have an obligation to take responsibility for this epidemic and its potential CURE!  AS the saying goes, “How can there be so many lonely people, in a world FILLED with lonely people.”  I suggest us all incorporating the Universal Law of BE THE SOURCE into our daily practice.  Essentially, this means to simply be the source of what you are seeking for others.  So for instance, the next time you are feeling lonely, think of someone in your life who may be going through a rough patch of their own and reach out to them.  And I DO NOT mean shooting them a text or writing them a Facebook post.  I mean picking up the phone and truly connecting with them.  Invite them out for coffee, or over to your place for a meaningful conversation, face to face!  You will be amazed at how much better and less isolated you will feel by taking these action steps in your life.  Not to mention spreading the same sense of connection with others!

Hopefully, we can all agree that life's greatest JOYS come from sharing laughter, memories, love, and happiness with others.  In fact, I would like to offer everyone reading this post a challenge.  What would it look like to pick up the phone over the weekend, and call an old friend or relative that you have not spoken to in over a year, and catch up on old times?!I believe your heart and theirs will be filled with GRATITUDE by making such a gesture!  I can attest to its transformative power by the many times I have done this myself!  By using the tool of BEING THE SOURCE, you call Spirit into your experience and with that comes the magic of miracles.  And right now, our planet needs the miracle of reconnection to help UNITE fractured relationships and disconnected souls in desperate need of the KNOWINGNESS that not only are they not alone, but that someone cares...........
